If you guys have had a written language and wrote about the so called war.

Their will be no need for all these arguments.

But the Europeans came to your land and also gave you guys the written form of your language and then also wrote about your culture so that you can know about it.

What a shame.

There is no written books of igbo civilization written by igbo people in the 18th or 19th century until the European brought western education
Our written language it existed even before Europeans learnt how to use compass
We have been communicating to ourselves even before Europe came with their lies ,propaganda, killing and slave trade

Why no books with these so called scripts?
The scripts are not igbo scripts but from cross rivers and mostly used for the ikpe secret society.

These scripts are just pictograms just like smileys, they are not useful in forming a written language.

The garbage you posted and the English translation makes no sense, they are madeup.

Stop deceiving yourself.

If it was an actual written language, igbo history would have been written in that

Op change the title of the thread to something like ' how the igbos fought the Britain'.

Try and build a positive and strong mindset.

Language is an act of communication
I don’t even understand how you people think
The English you speak today was through revolutions and still passing such
Any written sign use to communicate is called language

Olodo
Hence,Britain after conquering African stole many of it artifacts,so don’t expect those that lied to you about Africa, being in darkness ,to live all these elements of facts behind
Their 1967 lies is fresh in our mind ,they are still hiding the genocide of Biafra

Pls stop comparing that with the English language, it is not on par with the English language.

The scripts you posted, you can't even pronouce them. It doesn't have meaning even to your ancestors who didn't even have a writing system, it is alien to them.

We can see the progression and the development of English language, the old king james version English is totally different from the English of today, this shows its development.

There are no proofs that the script you posted was used as a writting system. As i have written before these script was used by the ikpe secret society..it was painted on the bodies of its members as a means of identification.

No igbo man have ever written a book with that script because it does not make any sense to past and future generations and even you.

The history book I read shows that Yoruba defeated you people in Oshobo.

The only fight you people can fight is attacking old people and children. While they are far asleep in the village.

You people are coward when you see boys, that is why you guys can't dare to come to the city.

Then how did old oyo empire got burnt to the down and moved to its present location.

The Ekumeku war and Aro war were not exactly why the British government disliked Igbos. Other ethnic groups in Nigeria resisted the British too only to be defeated after killing some British miliary men. The Yorubas resisted in Lagos and Ijebu area. The Ijaws fought bravely in Akassa and brass. Igodomigodo warriors equally tried their bit in the 1897 attack on Benin city. Most oppressors or conquerors prefer a few series of battle in a well defined war after which the victory will enjoy his victory and occupy the territory for a life time at least. The British had records about the nature of many ethnic groups of Nigeria right from their records of slave behaviours during that ill-fated period. The British noticed that while the Igbos were very good at understanding the duties demanded of them and delivering the expectation of the slave masters, that was only short-lived because soon the Igbos were prone rejecting enslavement in perpetuity. They mostly rebelled and flee to mountain regions or they attack and kill their masters or in some cases commit suicide. Before the middle of the 18th century, Igbos were highly valued slaves but with the notice of this pattern, the demand for them started to reduce from the end of that century. Those who still wanted Igbo slaves knew they would have to give them a more dignified job inside the houses on the not the fields. The European anthropologists who visited Igboland in the 19th century wrote that the Igbo country is a land of free men where every man is a master in his own house. After the Berlin conference, the British moved with their military might to forcefully cement their control over the Nigerian territory, they used all the available information to know how to deal with every area. After the few fights with the indigenous people, it was easy for them to administer those people but Igboland was a different case. The British didn't know what to do and coupled with, Igbos always challenged everything they introduce. In the first few decades of the 20th century, educated Igbos dominated the push for British removal in the affairs of Nigeria. Theophilus Akunna Wallace Johnson, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alvan Ikoku, Akanu Ibiam and a host of others were a torn in the flesh of the British. They were visibly agitated that the British without invitation were lording and exploiting the indigenous people of Nigeria and questioned the legitimacy of such openly. Akunna Wallace was imprisoned many times(he's of Sierra Leonian origin). Zik had too many encounter with them such that they refused to build more schools and infrastructures in the East. They only built PH Port because they needed a quicker route to steal the coal from Enugu. The Enugu coal uprising and Aba women's riot added more problems to the British. The Warrant chief system they introduced was rejected and they got frustrated. When they found oil around Owerri and other parts of the SE, they wanted to start the exploitation but Zik refused demanding that the host communities must be accepted as the owner of those resources with documents signed to that effect (I accidentally saw this information while researching online). This frustrated them further and they decided to move outside the known Igbo territory to search for oil until they struck one in Oloibiri. These are the reasons which they destested Igbos politically. We gave them no breathing space throughout their stay. Compare it with how we welcomed the missionaries in Igboland. There's no place European missionaries found hospitality like they got from Igbos.
We are never slaves to anyone as a nation and will never be to anyone.
Igbo murum, ekelem unu.
See as them dey rush us working tirelessly looking for threads about the great IGBO ancestry...once them see Biafra topic goosebumps go fool their body, am really leaning alot I really don't know before about my ancestry. Ji si ike nwannem. Ya diri gi na nma.

Is not a stupid mentality because that is what it is here in Nigeria but the one of British I cant say for sure. When you talk about Igbos with other tribes in Nigeria the venom at which they talk bad of the Igbos you your self you will say what is the issue. The Igbos have realise this so they are giving them back fire for fire so dont blame them at all.

Not only British every developed country hates people who are not afraid to look them in the eye balls and tell them Bleep you. Achebe never won the Noble Prize for Literature because he said "Fu*k you" Neither Did Baba Fela win the Grammys because he said "Fu*k you". Many people that told the world ",Fu*k you" were not given the deserved respect.

I DONT KNOW IF THIS AUTHORS ACCOUNT IS TRUE BUT WARS LAST MORE THAN 31 YEARS, CHECK THE KOREAN WAR ALTHOUGH THEY FOUGHT FROM 1950--1953 THERE WAS NO PEACE TREATY RATHER AN ARMISTICE WHICH LITERALLY MEAN JUST AN END TO HOSTILITIES SO TECHNICALLY TO THIS DAY NORTH KOREA AND SOUTH KOREA ARE STILL TECHINICALLY AT WAR TO THIS VERY MOMENT.

Before writing evolved to description of sounds with alphabets it was a description of objects. The oldest forms of writings were objects being drawn.
