Chief Ayo Adebanjo, the acting leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has slammed Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All progressives Congress (APC).

Adebanjo while speaking on the reason southwest governors are afraid of the controversial restructuring issue, said most of them are under the control of the AC national leader who is believed to have a pact with President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2023 presidency.

He categorically claimed that Buhari will not handover to Tinubu because he has an agenda of his own. Going further, he said he has no reason to be afraid of seaking his mind given that he his near to grave.

"That is correct and the reason is that many of them are under Tinubu. The exception is the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi (Makinde). They are all under the canopy of Tinubu, who himself is under the canopy of Buhari. "But they are deceiving themselves that Buhari would hand over to him (Tinubu) since they supported him (Buhari).

I have said it openly before and I would say it again that Buhari is deceiving Tinubu and Tinubu is deceiving Buhari. "I’m an old man and I’m a funeral candidate already, so quote me. If Tinubu contests the primary in APC today, he will fail." "That is why I said you should quote me. I’m not telling you what people say, I want you to write what I say and when it happens let us see who is right.

People talk about an agreement between them, but Buhari is deceiving him and he (Buhari) has an agenda of his own.

I agree that Tinubu may lose out in the end but Afenifere should desist from making him their focus.
It is starting to look childish and confer him with the influence he does not have.
There are many real issues you can call him out for but it makes no sense placing an entire region's challenges on one man.

When the SW governors wanted to establish Amotekun, they didn't seek Tinubu's approval, and neither did he provide support.
If restructuring is a popular issue, the governors would have no choice but to champion it even though the real power lies
with the national assembly.

SW governors are afraid of restructuring the same reason the other 30 state governors avoid talking about it.

Awolowo didn't just stay indoors lamenting about regional issues and throwing media jabs when he was out of power
He actually presented candidates that support his views. Let Afenifere learn from that.
