That's interesting to know. They have been operational for a while now in Abuja. In fact, AUMTCO buses won't let you board without it. Just that they refill theirs manually via a terminal at the bus stops. It helps curb corruption of funds remittances to the bus providers down here basically, just like electricity prepaid meters


You can refill the Leap card online, at bus, metro or train station terminals or via an NFC equipped smartphone.
The lack of data on how the citizenry use public transport would result in poor planning, projects that don't solve any problem and poor use of public funds

Lagos BRT Goes Cashless With Cowry Card

The Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Abimbola Akinajo has disclosed that fare collection on bus services offered by Primero Transport Services Limited, will from henceforth be through the use of the State Travel card known as Cowry Card.
