Someone said Aliko Dangote is the poorest man in the whole of Africa and a thief. Do you agree with the person? The person also said Dangote steals from the poor to enrich himself. That all the raw materials used in producing cement are from Nigeria, yet a bag of cement is sold for 4,000 naira. The same cement is exported to Ghana and sold cheaper there. Another person said, while other world billionaires are building electric cars, building houses in Mars, but Dangote is busy extorting money from poor Nigeria citizens. A civil servant would work for a whole month yet can’t afford 5 bags of cement. |

The reason why cement is expensive in Nigeria is simply because of high cost of haulage, Forex and power generation. A cement company/plant generates it's own power through either gas or low pour fuel (LPFO) and we all know that the cost of these fuel is very expensive. Thesame also goes with movement of cement from plant to the market. To move a truck of cement (600bags) from obajana in kogi to Maiduguri or IMO state may cost as high as 700k to 1million Naira The best solution is for the government to develop the rail infrastructure to link up all the states in Nigeria so that the cost of moving goods so reduce drastically |
