It's not just about the facility, but if the price will be reasonable.

A good example is the Lagos-Ibadan Railway fare of about 5k when normal bus is like 1.5k

Another thing is security because the railway will surely pass across forest. Will there be armed security men to foil any robbery or kidnapping move?

Same as air travel that’s more expensive

They knew what Nigerians want to hear, some people are already jumping in the euphoria of a project that will definitely not commence under Buhari's administration.

He is not trying, building a railway at exorbitant prices without a supply chain to maintain them is not trying.

We need railways but the first priority is to build steel plants and train Nigerians to build railways themselves, rail technology is 250 years old. Nigeria can easily afford track laying machines to remove old tracks and lay new ones, this is basic engineering similar to building motor ways.

Lol

Even some develop countries are looking up to China and Japan to build their railways. You know nothing.

May God bless u, there are actually people that meant well for the country

u sef, let's assume u be hardened criminal, u go gree go stop train?
Very simple to stop train than cars.

Just remove some rails like how Nigeria police and soldiers are doing on the highways by creating port holds everywhere for extortions.

How I wish PMB earned N51 Trillion from oil instead of GEJ and his looting and stealing gang that we benefited nothing from.

Ameachi won't lie to Nigerians, especially when it has to do with infrastructural development of the southern part of Nigeria where he hails from.

This project is of utmost importance to his future political plans and pursuits.
Guillibe people like you are the reasons why our politicians are always taking us for a ride..... This same Lagos to Calabar railway has been said before by this same government.

Work on security, work on health care, work on education.

Human development and security are a country's first priority. Fix the roads and we can work on the railway infrastructure when the country has steel and iron resources to build them.

It should be obvious to you by now that Nigerians can't build or develop anything... the youths are disinclined to anything related to hardwork.... the only way infrastructure projects can work in Nigeria is if it is given to foreigners such as China. If you look at roads, any road project given to a Nigerian firm ends up a failure but the ones given to Julius Berger which has foreign leadership ends up successful.....

I used to remember when travelling to Ibadan from Lagos was just 300 naira. SMh

Who will maintain those projects when the Chinese leave.... the lazy , uneducated youth.

The culture of corruption and indiscipline is the consequence of failed democracy practice in Nigeria. why should any youth work hard when a government official can become a billionaire overnight.

What was Nigeria development before the British took over?

By 1902 the British had built a tramway in Lagos, completed the Lagos to Kano railway, the Port-Harcourt railway. Till this day Nigeria cannot build or maintain railway. The Monorail that Amechi started in PH has yet to be commissioned, Lagos light rail that started in 2008 is nowhere to be found.

Ameachi, once said that he will complete the $400 million mono-rail project in PH ... he lied. Politician lying is like drinking water, you should first look at Ameachi record to understand why he never completes a project.

Only Ameachi said they are constructing the Lagos -Kano standard rail at the same time Lagos - Calabar rail . Are these two project taking off this year ?

They weren't building those things because they loved us.... they were building it as part of growth of their empire and to aid in transport of raw materials.....

But you have a point.

But he started and completed Lagos- Ibadan rail, he completed Warri-Itakpe rail line. Why do you think he won't complete Ibadan-Kano, PHC-Maiduguri and now Lagos-Calabar?

The PHC monorail was a misadventure which he shouldn't have started as PHC does not need rail as much as Lagos does.

But the Senate of Saraki and even legislators from the South killed it at the time. Now it is back on the table and progress being made. If you look closely, all these massive infrastructure took off mainly in PMB's 2nd term after the likes of Saraki and Dino were out of the way.

The abuse and negativity from ordinary Nigerians can be tolerated. All that is required is for those projects to be delivered one after another with the noise dying down with time.

what value would the west get from a rail line to the east...the government should put this effort into building of cargo rail lines that connects the north to the SW and a trans-national rail line that connects nigeria to Ghana. Set up ruga operations in the north and bring the cows via rail to the lagos market.
