No link of the beating and it was put on front page. angry

The OP is a Lekki Gardens contractor. I hate baseless accusations being put in front page. Both the MOD of this thread and the OP need to be beaten ruthlessly for hawking unverified and fake news.

This should be about law and order, social culture and decency not elitist mentality. I know many retired judges, lawyers and doctors that behave like touts and patronize touts.

Which one is lekki is made for this one and that one? Same razz people go abroad and can’t try such nonsense there.

No different than people living in Mushin or Isale Eko or Ajegunle would do. Lol. After them go form posh as per Ikoyi residents.

The difference between the 'rich' and the poor in Nigeria is just affectation. The rich are able to give off a semblance - or in fact an affectation - of 'class' and refinement. This is just a facade. They're not classier or more civilised than the average street hustler in Ajegunle.

Infact you should pay for it or don't without my permission

Should you beat up someone in a civil dispute? Absolutely not

The baseless and desperate vendetta of the Osbourne Foreshore residents’ association was taken to a new dimension yesterday when they resorted to violence by beating up the contractors and staff of the developer.

This is coming up barely a week after the stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Ministry of Planning and Urban development where stakeholders were advised to engage and resolve all issues.

The developer had mobilized her contractors to some of its sites following approvals recently received from the state government only for the contractors to be prevented from gaining entrance into the estate by OSFRA. They were only allowed in following the intervention of the authorities to which the developer appealed in her bid to maintain the peace.

Feeling thwarted in their plans to frustrate the developer by constituting a major nuisance at the gate of the estate thereby disturbing free flow of movement into the estate, the association led by the chairman Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa mobilized touts and stormed the site of the company where they resorted to rough handling and beating up everyone they saw on site, insisting the contractors must leave the site.
It has become very clear that the association will stop at nothing including ignoring constituted authorities and resorting to self help to get their way, even if it means constituting themselves into a nuisance to disturb the peace, standing in the way of progress and development or preventing legitimate business owners from accessing their investments all for the achievement of their personal agenda at the detriment of the common good of Lagosians.
I had discussed severally with the lady in question as my company has been stopped several times by OSFRA.
Inviting touts I won't say she can do. Mr Shola has been the attack dog but listening to him also show the impunity contractors show.
Last time we were accused of mobilising touts but these were just labourers working for us.
Residents attacked us because the gate was locked for several hours on a Monday morning.
There are different sides of a story and don't try to make a business look too bad till a police report confirms it.

The OFRA members maybe afraid that further developments, such as reclamation of land at the site may lead to total flooding of their estate, I had that experience when I drove to another side of one of the estates located there and it was frightful witnessing the level of flood water there.

However, sending touts to beat up workers at the site is not the best solution to the above problem as a legal action to stop further developments at the site can be filed at the court.
The court will only allow further developments there if the fears of the residents are properly addressed and laid to rest.

What's the bone of cpontention?!
They are in all honesty.
OSFRA has been successfully taking care of the estate but trouble started when residents made move even up to the presidency to stop Lekki Gardens from erecting High Rise buildings as they believe there security is compromised.
Lekki Gardens enjoys some government favours too so we're able to go ahead after meeting state government requirements.
Now OSFRA levies were grossly increased to frustrate works and insists that all must be paid in full even though a huge chunk has been paid.
They have a case in court, CPs and the governor has tried to intervene but because OSFRA has the backing of some highly placed residents, they won't back down.
Almost all the high rise buildings are constructed already so you can imagine why the continuous fights.

Well it must have failed from our leaders, leadership is by example. The people copy their leaders. If the leaders believed in law and order they would have passed it down to society and citizens. It’s not that hard but our leaders have glorified money and power at the expense of right values both the educated and non educated ones.

OSFRA is wrong no doubt, but the activities of some of these developers must be sanitised. Sometimes the way they construct, you would wonder if any sensible, and educated person works in those companies.

Too eager to build and sell house, and that they then become a nuisance to everyone living there.

Okay, if the government cannot enforce the stop order, then the court will be in the best position to do so, once a 'stop work' injunction is filed there.
