The deputy governor of Kogi state, Edward Onoja, was sacked by Guaranty Trust Bank Plc for involving in a fraudulent act, a source told SaharaReporters.

The source added that Onoja was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2011 but was let off the hook after bribing his way through the process.

He was said to have issued a fraudulent Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO) dated 15th October, 2008 to another commercial bank in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

“He was sacked by GT Bank after the fraudulent act was discovered. He was then the manager of the bank in Lokoja. He can’t deny that, all of us working with him then know him to be a fraudulent and selfish person. If he is sure of himself, tell him to present his letter of resignation from the bank if truly he has one,” a source told SaharaReporters.

Known for violence, Onoja was publicly seen leading thugs to snatch ballot boxes during the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency bye-election in 2018.

He was arrested by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) over an alleged plot to attack a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman (rtd).

His arrest and detention followed a tip-off of an impending attack on Usman by mercenaries identified as ex-Niger Delta militants.

Preliminary confessional statements obtained from the apprehended gang members by DSS allegedly fingered Onoja as mastermind of the planned attack.

SaharaReporters gathered that he was detained for some days before he was released after the intervention of his boss, Yahaya Bello.

Actually, I can't see. They provided no evidence for their allegations, and neither have you for your defence of the accused who can always sue saharareporters for defamation.

Everyone knows that Edward Onoja was sacked from GTB because of some unsecured loans he made to a company the Yahaya Bello was handling. During that period things were really tight for him financially that he had to open a barbing salon. As soon as Yahaya Bello became the governor of kogi, he took his loyal friend from the barbing salon business and made him his chief of staff. Today Edward Onoja is the deputy governor of Kogi as we speak, their is a gentleman's agreement that Bello will handover to Onoja who happens to be Igala. Their is a rumour that their relationship has started to fall apart ever since Onoja became deputy governor.

I have a friend who is an Igala man he told me about this, according to him the said funds were given to Yahaya Bello, reason why he picked him as his deputy as a means of compensation.

The two of them are inseparable and they are very loyal long time friends.

You lots shouting blackmail all over the thread, where is the blackmail?

Sowore is no where near the "man" that we seek for this very pitiable country- agreed! But, why don't we wait for another comeback from Onoja? Or he suddenly wants to maintain decorum?

I don't see this country getting any better because of our foolish political party loyalty even in the face of clear evidences.

Let us continue to shield them from answering for their crimes like the Abobaku they have made us.

Sowore this is dead on arrival because Kogites are aware of this case even before his appointment as Chief of Staff. If Sowore can support Buhari and APC in 2015 then he should enjoy his change till 2023.
