Thursday, 1st April, 2021 will remain a memorable day in the history of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, as a member of the University Governing Council; Emeritus Professor Michael Omolewa clocked 80.

As an erudite scholar of international standing and a member of the 3rd Governing Council of the University, Professor Omolewa’s astuteness, dexterity and sagacity have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the University.

In a surprise get-together organized in his honour on Tuesday, 30th March, 2021 during the 27th Extraordinary Meeting of the University Governing Council, the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of the Governing Council, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs lauded the sterling contributions of Professor Omolewa to the advancement of the Nigerian University system, stressing that as a member of the AE-FUNAI Governing Council, his robust contributions during deliberations have been inspirational.

While expressing his surprise on the birthday get-together organized in his honour, a visibly elated Emeritus Professor Omolewa noted that he hardly celebrates his birthday, and expressed his gratitude to the governing council, especially the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman, Emeritus Professor Briggs and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Elom, for celebrating him on his birthday.

He also used the occasion to invoke the blessings of the Almighty God on all the members of the Governing Council and the entire university community.
