Umahi Disagrees With Uzodinma, Says Bandits, Not IPOB Responsible For Southeast Attacks

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi on Wednesday declared that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are not responsible for the attacks in the southeast.
According to the Governor, bandits are the ones masquerading as members of IPOB’s Eastern Security Network (ESN) to attack the southeast region.

Newspot recalls the region has come under several attacks by gunmen in recent times including attacks on police stations, and other security formations with the attackers burning cars and other public properties in the process.

Some sections of the public have blamed IPOB for the attack. Most notably, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma and the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu claimed IPOB and the ESN were responsible for the attacks.

But Umahi on Wednesday disagreed with their submissions, noting that bandits were responsible for the attacks.

In his words, “Of late, we have bandits that are doing a lot of evil and say that they are Eastern Security Network. They commit a lot of crimes and say that they are IPOB and later IPOB will say they have no hand in it. This is what is going on. We will not allow illegality to thrive in our land. Conflict will not resolve conflict.”

He however noted that the Governors of the southeast won’t just sit down and watch the security situation continue to deteriorate.

Umahi noted that this informed the recent launch of the regional security outfit, codenamed Ebubeagu for the southeast adding that it is the only legal regional security outfit for the area established to collaborate with other conventional security agencies.

“Ebubeagu is to protect the lives of everyone in the South-East,” the governor noted.

Umahi also warned people to stop playing politics with the security situation in Nigeria, warning that such actions would have dire consequences.

The truth remains that the country is going into extreme politics, it is easier to make money in politics, blackmail people and so, we have departed from the culture of hard work,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, on Wednesday, condemned those who are influenced by other people’s opinions on social media.

Keyamo who took to his Twitter account noted that some people have commercialized their opinions and positioned themselves as characters with a plan to provide a moral compass for the country.

Idiotic governors abound down south from the east to d west. Ur people wanted a regional security u said it wasn't necessary now all of a sudden ebubeagu! Bunch of jokers.
Lesson everyone must have learnt from the ongoing drama in ngr is that u will never be giving back ur right or land on a platter of gold by ur oppressors.Like it's always said ,people only give up power only based on one of 2 circumstances. 1. When a war is waged against the oppressors or 2. When the oppressor realises that there maybe consequence if they continue the oppression. And that is y tho I don't support a prison break but weda u like it or not the igbos have shown with that daring act that they too have people that are "crazy" . U see, u need crazy ppl within ur tribe to get things done. U don't go to Abuja to be negotiating from d position of weakness. Now When d governors go to Abuja and are bargaining with the hausa/fulani government, they will be listened to more attentively since the hausa/fulani govt now know that "mad" people that can make the country ungovernable is not only present up north but are down south too.
For people that have been following ngr politics go back and read all of the communiques by Arewa and compare it to their latest statement shortly after the Imo state action .u will realize that Arewa for the 1st time spoke diplomatically . It is obviously because of that dare devil acts from the guys from the east. How many times do u read Arewa communique and not see that nonsense about ngr unity not being negotiable. But they deliberately left it out in their last press release.
The foolish thing southerners can do is to frustrate that ESN .

SE Governors are a wonder to behold! We criticise most of the governors for not paying attention to their people's needs and for not trying to tackle security issues but these ones take the cake. sad
