She Forfeited Her Medical School Admission For Love, Now She's Treated Unfairly. by Nobody: 6:36pm On Apr 14, 2021
This is a true story!!

I have a female acquaintance who got an admission to study Medicine in the prestigious University of Nigeria Nsukka but forfeited it because she overheard her man telling someone that he would never marry a graduate because of the too many sex that students have in school.

Apparently, the guy felt any lady who passes through school always graduated with too many body counts.

This lady went ahead to forfeit that admission because she felt she loved this guy so much and would do anything to keep him.

Well, the guy went on to marry her traditionally, and at present they have 3 kids.

But that's not all, for over 2 Years, this guy has not had any sexual contact with his wife. Not only that, he has gone ahead to have 2 kids outside his marriage, and by 2 different women. Now the women are insisting he must marry them. He is not even hiding it from her or anyone.

The worst part of it is that this lady can't control her husband; the man has told her clearly that he is no longer interested in marrying her again. But for the intervention of her in laws, she would have been pushed out of the marriage.

The lady does a meager 30k job to keep her family going.

I think it was insane for this lady to forfeit her admission for anyone, but then, was it worth it?

She is 33 years old now. What would you advise her if you happen to come across her?

Things we do for love..

She made a great mistake and it has cost her but like the old saying "never say never".. she can still find an alternative to fetch a degree, if she's willing and able.. you have weekend programs and NOUN..

My friend was escorting me when I visited him some time ago.. he stopped by a shop to greet a girl, this girl was having a baby.. amazed! I asked him na she get the pikin?.. he said yes and started explaining that her parents are trying to make the guy who impregnated her marry her..

I then told him to please sit her down advice her and if possible see her parent.. the deed has been done.. they should take care of the child while she pursue a career for herself.. she is too young to forget about school and get married thereby being a burden to the young guy who himself is still looking for a compass for his way forward

Many mistake would be avoided if people had person or persons who had adviced them strongly.. some make decisions out of ignorance and emotions..

The moment she overheard her man saying he won't marry a graduate, she would have ran for her dear life.

Problem with women is that thing they assume is love.

Signs are always glaring yet the so called love will make women not use their senses.

Not still too late.

She can still be a medical Dr if she so desire.
Time to move on. No regret but lesson learnt.

She gambled & she lost, that's life.

Sometimes, you win.
Sometimes, you learn.

If she is keen on schooling, she can consider part-time OR better still opt for distance learning in any higher institution that offers it.

That being said, let's be guided with the way we act on any information we obtain directly and/or indirectly.

I would advise her to read Terarai Trent's story and watch YouTube videos of Trent's life story as well.

It's a story with a powerful message, by a Zimbabwe woman who was in the same situation like your acquaintance years ago,but she fought for her life, she pulled herself up and got it together.

Zimbabwe & Nigeria have something in common, they're both African countries with a backward mentality when it comes to certain issues like the girl-child and marriage. So, don't think Trent's situation is unique or different because she isn't Nigerian.

If, she learns nothing from Trent's story then I'll say she is still as foolish as she was when she declined her med school admission.
Great advise.

Do you think it's necessary she still tries to salvage her marriage

There are some things I hear and I see and I honestly have no Pity for the individuals involved.

I Feel no Pity for that woman in your story up there... She made her decision with her eyes wide open, and chose to follow her heart in that situation, so as she has followed her heart by throwing her education away, she should also bear the consequences of her action and decision. Simple!,.... Every irrational decision and action we take and engage ourselves in has consequences, there's no two ways about it.

If she can forfeit her dream for a notorious impregnating machine, I will endorse and appreciate it if she forfeit this embarrassment called marriage.

It's actually easy to cast such people away but then everyone deserves a second chance.

Where does she start from?

She has 3 kids and makes just 30k monthly which she uses to support herself and the kids.

The husband seemed to have been swayed by the other 2 ladies.

You still think quitting is a viable option

She can still go back to school or something else that would be fulfilling to her asides school .
Her marriage is dead. I don’t know what’s she would be trying to salvage out of it.
But her own life she can still get back together

Dear FortifiedCity,

Are you here to look for advice for your friend or to join others and condemn her?

Would you advise her to remain in such an embarrassing marriage if she was your sister?

The husband does not respect her as wife and mother of his kids, he sees her as a trash....

Is that the type of marriage you want her to "Salvage"?

It’s easy to say this now that this has happened.
But if this young lady had come for advice before the marriage, anyone who told her to focus on building herself as a priority instead of throwing her future away to please a man would be an evil feminist.

People need to read the atmosphere.
To note how those kinds of words and condemnation influence women into making negatively life altering decisions. She did what she thought a good traditional woman (based on what people actually say) ought to do. I don’t know if I 100% blame her per se.

I believe she's not disabled...

She can handle them the best way a mother will handle her kids.
