[quote author=Elonmuskfan post=100806116]the bone of contention here is the meritocracy of special status on the context of population which kano, as much as lagos deserves. Stop trying to shy away from the truth. [/quote

What is the economic value of kano state despite having the highest LG of about 44.....how productive are the acclaimed population of almajiri

We are talking about productive population not the poverty inclined Islamist cultured 1 that just give birth to destitute

Then Kano needs special status as well cos its the commercial capital of northern Nigeria and is easily Nigeria’s most populated state.

Rivers as well cos it’s the commercial capital of oil revenue which Lagos state highly benefits from in terms of allocation.
If the FG actually pays Lagos what she deserves, Lagos state does not need allocation from the Niger Delta.

If oil producing states can get 13% I don't see any reason why Lagos that generates 70% of the country's VAT cannot get 5%.

The yoyos up northern thst sre destroying alcohol are getting billions from the same.

Kano may have a huge Population like Lagos but its not generating enough money for the FG like Lagos.

Kano is a DRAIN PIPE...
A drop in FAAC allocations, and they’re struggling to pay civil servants. SMH

Lagos demanding a special status isn't appropriate especially at a time when secessionist attempts are at an all time high, this is going t send a wrong signal and would cause other states to start asking for special status just like the other "Human being" Said kano also need special status for being "The commercial hub of the " North" so they deserve special status Others would still come forward like Rivers, Delta for being oil hub of the nation and such demands special status, Sanwo OLU didn't think this through b4 running t meet @NAssNg

Decongestion of Lagos should be the topic going forward..
Warri
Calabar
Uyo
Port harcourt
Lokoja
Onitsha
These cities have suffered under the attention given only to Lagos. That should end.
Lagos should manage her taxes well.. Federal investments made her so rich.
Such investments should be extended to other areas..

Rivers and Delta already have special status as oil-producing states, which is why they receive special (derivation) allocations, have a dedicated federal ministry and the NDDC.

Meanwhile, Nigerians from all across the nation VOTE WITH THEIR FEET everyday and flock into Lagos in droves daily. This puts enormous and considerable stress on both physical and social infrastructure (including resources for FREE public education in all non-tertiary public schools in Lagos). It is only fair that Lagos receive due support for its preeminent role in supporting ALL Nigerians.

This thread is about Lagos state.. If those you listed are also interested in special status, tell them to lobby for it
and you think Lagos will get special status?

and you think Lagos will get special status?

It probably will NOT...

Because while ALL Nigerians may flock to Lagos to seek a fortune...
When it comes to supporting Lagos, ALL Nigerians become tribalistic.
