RE: EKITI 2022 AND PDP SOUTH-WEST CONGRESS BY OMOTOSO OKEYA: STULTIFYING A PSEUDO-INTELLECTUAL AND SELF-SEEKING CHARLATAN

Having gone through the repulsive and disjointed dispatch from Mr Omotoso Okeya, being a rejoinder to his recent public infamy, one must ask Mr Okeya on whose charge is he gallivanting and to achieve what?

I think commonsense suggests that in every election or contest involving two or more aspirants, a winner must emerge. That Mr Okeya, going by his article, is acting contrary to the logic of commonsense is shameful and worrisome!

One would have expected Okeya as a journalist to objectively document the chronicle of the just concluded Southwest Congress but as expected, his chicken has come home to roost again, with his insipid article conjured based on his outlandish self-seeking assumptions that are characterised by fallacies of mischievous generalizations; perhaps to score petty points on the instruction of one governorship aspirant in Ekiti, thereby, zooming on Prof. Kolapo Olusola who is being perceived to be a threat to the camp of Okeya's sponsor.

Away from the rhetoric of the Southwest Congress, regardless of how trivial the vote difference was, a victor has emerged and one million Okeya and his sponsors cannot do anything to alter this fact, other than this parody of lamentation. What a shame!

It is within the prerogative of the newly elected Chairman, Ambassador Arapaja to be magnanimous in victory for the common interest of the party by embracing all the divides. Besides, Dr. Eddy Olafeso has even congratulated the winner. Can someone ask Okeya why he is being begrudged and more miserable than the bereaved?!

In your incompetent article, you claimed that 85% of Ekiti state delegates voted for Dr Eddy Olafeso right? If I may ask, how did you generate your accidental figures? Well, the reality of the election is contrary. I employ you and those who fed you with the figure falsification and fallacies to continue to bask in the euphoria of your collective self-deceit.

In politics, there are many deciding factors that will come into play before the parties primary election. They are in layers which gladiators in the political arena understand perfectly well. I may not wish to delve into some of these variables now; maybe later.

However, Mr. Okeya foolishly and ignorantly fails to realise that the number of delegates who voted at South West Zonal Congress are infinitesimal in number, compare to the larger picture in the primary election. How can Okeya base his analysis of 115 delegates at the Zonal Congress to determine over 2000 delegates who will decide who will fly the party's ticket in 2022 governoship election?

Okeya has shown in his confusing write-up that he is bereft of what is obtainable in Ekiti of today. Is Okeya not in Ekiti when statutory delegates from Emure, Ikere and some Local Governments told Fayose to his face they cannot support Bisi Kolawole who never showed interest to contest?

Mr Okeya should be bold enough to campaign for his candidate and stop his politics of blackmail against other aspirants through his memedom.

The frustrated journalist should be guided about the ethic and ethos of politics and journalism in the 21st century.

Politics is about articulation and aggregation of interests, hence, individuals should be allowed to play the game accordingly to the rules without being slandered. Even, the blind and the deaf understand the direction from which the renewed campaign of calumny against Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka is coming from and the fact that Okeya is only being used as a puppet.

It simply shows Prof Eleka enjoys wide acceptability among the good people of Ekiti State and that he is still a major contender for the Governorship seat.

The chronic pessimist should be well tutored that Ekiti state politics transcend boastful statements as contained in his last article.

Okeya, a man with no political reputation in Ikere Ekiti, should bury his head in shame than displaying his buffoonery in the public to bamboozle the innocent readers.

His rants against the personality of Prof. Eleka are quite understandable, hence grandstanding through inconsequential missive will further expose his triviality in Ikere-his community, where he has no political bearing and footing.

For the avoidance of doubt, apart from Eleka’s activities in politics even while in civil service, his father played a pivotal role in the political arrangement that brought Fayose to power in 2003.

Papa Eleka was a prominent Party Chairman of Ikere Ekiti during Fayose’s first term in government and also played an indispensable role in the stabilization of the party in Ekiti. So, having done all these to sustain the party, is there any wrong to assume a political position in the state through the same party?

Conclusively, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka has gone beyond your self-seeking relevancy. He is too busy with other bigger things.

Comrade 'Sola Falaye, writes from Emure Ekiti
