Dr. Bello Maigari, Executive Secretary/CEO, National Lottery Trust Fund has commissioned and handed over vital medical equipment to New-Karu Primary Healthcare Clinic funded by the agency today 22nd of April, 2021.

34 medical items were donated to the PHC clinic Karu Nassarawa State. They are; Digital X-Ray 100MA, Colored Ultra Sound machine, Suction machine, Kidney Disc-10 units, weighing Scales, Thermometers 5 units, Drip Stand, hospital monitor, Glucometre,  Resusitoire to mention a few.

Having warmly welcome his guests to the special occasion of the official commissioning, the CEO and his team provided details of how the agency came about the project in his speech.

"Your Excellency, Distinguished guests, it is evident we are facing enormous health crisis in recent history, not only one occasioned by the corona virus pandemic which had escalated demand for healthcare services globally, travels to other jurisdictions for medication is also increasingly becoming difficult due to restrictions and tighter travelling protocols.

Hence, there is therefore no better time to improve the nation’s healthcare system than now. This occasion represents another significant milestone in the funding of lottery good causes in the country and is one that resonates in the entire lottery industry.

The essence of the intervention is to provide vital medical equipment to under-served communities in the hope that government efforts will make all the difference in saving lives and reversing the deteriorating health conditions leveraging the use of hi-tech diagnostic equipment to provide high standards of care to vulnerable segment of society with sizeable percentage of states across the six geo-political zones covered so far in this phase of the Intervention.

The decision by the Federal Government to establish the National Lottery Trust Fund is indicative of a government that recognizes the importance of lottery as a vehicle in enhancing the social wellbeing of its citizenry through investments in its various lottery good cause intervention projects that are creative, relevant, timely, realistic and economically sustainable with visible practical benefits to society and to continue to do so in a balanced, transparent and cost-effective manner.

I cease this opportunity to appreciate our visionary President, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for his untiring commitment towards the total wellbeing of the Nigerian people. Our profound appreciation also goes to the Special Guest of Honour, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State for his unparalleled support in making this programme possible.

The extraordinary support, guidance and encouragement of my boss, the Guest of Honour of this event, H.E, Sen. (Dr.) George Akume, the Honourable Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs is highly acknowledged. Our profound appreciations also go to the Honourable Minister of Health, National Coordinating Team on Covid-19,

Members of the National Assembly, and our indefatigable Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Chief William Alo, his counterpart at the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy Engr. Festus Y.N. Daudu and the Royal Father of the Day HRM Pharm. Luka Panya Baba Esu-Karu. Let me also acknowledge the presence of the Chairman and members of the board of trustees of the National Lottery Trust Fund, the Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and all lottery operators, permit-holders and promoters.

To all our distinguished guests here present, we thank you all for coming and wish you an inspiring time with us during this momentous occasion of our commissioning and handover of these vital medical facilities."

Those Present at the commissioning were the Executive Gov. Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule (The Executive Governor of Nassarawa State) ably represented by the Commissioner of works & Transport ( Hon. Philip Dada) He thanked the agency for their good cause and intervention in the health sector most especially to the good people of Karu community in Nassarawa State and reiterated the State government readiness to continually Support the health of the state.

Also, Engr.Festue Y.N Dauda (Permanent Secretary Fed.Ministry of Communication & Digital Economy) gave a Goodwill message.

HRM.Pharm (Dr) Luka Panya Baba Esu Karu .... Appreciated the agency's gesture towards the community and believe that with the Vital Medical Equipment donated to the primary Health Care today, they would be able to live up to expectations as regards health condition of the people within the community.

Hon. Christopher Etta (Chairman Board of Trustee)...While charging the National Lottery Commission on its Mandate to add value to humanity, assured the people that all the proceeds got from lottery activities would be properly channeled towards adding Value to Nigerians. Others too eulogies the good gesture of the agency.
