I think decentralization of the security is a selfless decision that the elites are not ready to take yet. A selfless decision in the sense that once you decentralized the security system, you are automatically saying that you will embrace the outcome should such decision leads to disintegration.

Nobody seem to know what's happening with the bandits, kidnapped students and the government.
They are obviously killing or delibrately allowing them to die in order to send a message.
The impression one gets is that the govt is just waiting for the bandits to kill all of them so that the chapter can end and life would go on.

My understanding is that the Kaduna State goveror, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, has decided that paying for the release of kidnapped students, like Zamfara governor Bello Matawalle does, only exasperates the Kidnaping crises.

Here is an extract from the BBC: Many Nigerians believe resorting to paying ransoms, have made mass abductions a lucrative source of income for Kidnappers.

Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai refuses to pay for the release of the kidnapped students and consequently the psychopathic kidnapers have decided to kill students in their possession to pressure him into paying them.

FarahAideed. I hope you can see that refusal to pay ransom is not a good idea. Except you mean money is worth more than lives of these people. The bandits didn't start kidnapping for money suddenly. They were first of all murderers. So killing people is a pastime to them. Kaduna gov who said he'll not negotiate with them is now harvesting dead bodies of youths. I hope you get it now.

It seems to me that there are powerful forces at work trying very hard to prime the country for a military take over.

Who can those powerful force be?

a. They must have the means.
b. They must have the opportunity.
c. They must have the motive.
d. They must have the disposition.

A search for answers to the above will be quite revealing.

Whether we like it or not that's the only thing that can work at this point...imagine if they keep killing 3 everyday and then nobody pays them and then they raid 5 more schools nobody pays them they will find their level ... Realise whether we pay or not they lives are already being killed ...

Bros you're not being realistic. The question you leave hanging in all these is how practicable and responsible it is to have people being killed simply because you want to hold on to some high-sounding principles. Has that stopped killings? Will that prevent the next kidnap? Every evidence points to a negative answer.

nope,if the government refuses to pay ransome, those bandits will just begin attacking banks, houses and businesses with the corresponding deaths ( to turn the public against the government).
