The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has clarified that the murdered Commander of its security outfit, Eastern Security Network, ESN was killed while he was sleeping in his father’s compound.

This was contrary to the previous report by the Nigerian army that the commander was killed during a gun battle.

Recall that Nigerian security forces carried out a joint operation in Imo State on Saturday, April 24 which led to the death of the ESN Commander, Ikoson and several others.



In a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that the Nigerian security forces eliminated the commander over his decision to eradicate herdsmen from the Southeast.

“The bitter truth the Nigerian Government didn’t want people to hear, which IPOB disclosed at the said interview, was that Ikonso was murdered in his father’s house, not in any imaginary ESN camp or battlefield as the liars would hope to have us believe.

“The same Army, Police and DSS in Imo State that never for one day arrested or prosecuted any Fulani terror herdsman ravaging Imo State before the coming of Ikonso; the same Nigerian security agents that have always provided cover for terrorists and bandits, had the guts to ambush and kill the only man that drove Fulani terrorist herdsmen out of Imo State.

The group which accused the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of plotting the death of the commander, had in a statement, vowed to launch a reprisal attack.

Yes. It was a cowardly operation. He had no gunshot wounds. We was ambushed while sleeping and apparently tortured and given a lethal injection when bullets couldn't kill him. Yet, he and his few men managed to kill of many them.

Either ways he had to go. He masterminded the killing of security forces & civilians and destruction of public property which in any sane society is a no-no. I know his supporters wont agree as there is a lot of sentiments due to his position in IPOB & his contribution to the struggle.

Anyone who takes the life of a Nigerian citizen must be made to face the music. Secessionist, Bandits, Herdsmen, UGM, Boko haram, all of them must be made to face the music. No one should feel emboldened to wake up one day & take up arms to go and take another person’s life for whatever reason. Because BH & herdsmen are doing it should not be excuse for anyone else. Two wrongs will never make a right.

Together or divided whatever tomorrow brings; we must explore civil means to achieve it. We’re not animals.

Strange that a man whose only sin was that he avowed himself towards defending his land by fighting against the fulani menace that plagued his homeland (like is happening nationwide) was seen by the military and security personnels as a BIGGER threat over thousands of far more dangerous and sophisticated bandits/terrorist organizations scattered across the North with possible links to ISIS and other powerful terrorist cells known globally. I don't know who Ikonso was, and if he did anything bad that was contrary to his sworn principles to protect his people from been killed, raped, and displaced by fulani criminal elements, then I leave him to his Chi to face his judgment, but surely he just have been doing something right for his unfortunate death to have triggered so much pain among so many people including those that don't even support IPOB or ESN.
