pricklewane:The difference is that the contract for the TSA was open and transparent. The platform used to implement the TSA was won by one of my acquantances Dad's company Systemspecs, owned by John Obaro. The fact Tinubu was the Treasurer in Mobil, does not give him the right to award his personal company monopoly to collect taxes and determine the 10% commission when he was governor. If he did that in Mobil he would have been fired without compensation and not be entitled to a pension.

BlackBaron:What I don't understand is that he worked in a company with one of the best corporate governance practices in the world,Mobil, and should have known better. And also lived in Chicago,United States for a number of years. Why can't they ever replicate the transparent corporate governance structure in the corporations they worked in or build the same structures in the countries they lived in. |

pricklewane: Where are you getting your 70% claim from? In the last fiscal year (2020), Lagos state generated N419b in IGR, which was 32% of the national 1.31 trillion naira generated. I have seen no metrics that show this has anything to do with the efficiency of Alpha Beta rather than the fact Lagos state has by far Nigeria's largest economy with over 50% of registered companies and Lagos state contributes about 70% of the Federal Government's tax revenue (hilariously, this would mean that FIRS is more efficient in collecting Lagos taxes than Alpha Beta are). Either way, there is no basis to claim Tinubu's company are doing it any better than the state civil service would. You've also ignored what seems to be the most troubling issue here which is the conflict of interest and ethical breach which would be unacceptable in any free democracy where the government is accountable to the people. Your apologetics here which is clearly motivated by your crude parochialism is the reason democracy as a system of accountable government is wasted on Nigerians. 1 Like |
