AGAIN: UNKNOWN GUNMEN SET ABLAZE AKWA IBOM INEC OFFICE Essien Udim Local Government Area office of Independence National Electoral Commission INEC has been reported burnt down. Electoral Commissioner for Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Mike Igini, told the public in a release signed by Festus Okoye, a National Commissioner of the commission. “The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 2nd May 2021. Our security guard on duty escaped unhurt but the destruction to the building and properties therein was extensive. Items destroyed include 345 ballot boxes, 135 voting cubicles, megaphones, water tanks and office furniture. “The police, which has also been battling with attacks on its facilities and personnel in the area, is aware of the incident and has commenced investigation. “It will be recalled that on the eve of the 2019 General Election, our newly constructed prototype LGA office in Ibesikpo Asutan was burnt down while two more offices in Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo LGAS were bombed. “The recent attack on our facility after we have just concluded the inventory of electoral materials nationwide in readiness for the 2023 General Election is worrisome. If unchecked, these attacks may constitute a setback on the Commission’s preparations, including the ongoing conversion of Voting Points to Polling Units, the forthcoming Continuous Registration of Voters (CVR) exercise and the conduct of polls. “Nevertheless, the Commission wishes to assure Nigerians that we will leave no stone unturned to recover from the incident in Akwa Ibom State as we continue to prepare for all electoral activities. Yesterday, Ikono Divisional Police was attacked by alleged IPOB/ESN where two policemen feared death. Recall also we reported that's Essien Udim Sub- treasury was attacked and burnt by yet unknown bandits READ MORE https://sitippe.ng/gunmen-set-ablaze-akwa-ibom-inec-office/

I think the biggest fooools are those that think anything good would come out of 2023. I strongly believe that almost every single incident on insecurity is politically motivated From Imo to Borno, Oyo to Benue, all of them are orchestrated by the same people you all want to vote in your respective states, local government and others. Nigeria is finished.. 1 Like |

Buhari lacks common sense, bringing stability to the east and by extension the whole South and Nigeria is very simple, he should leave this country to wherever kanu is to negotiate with him, thereafter he should assure the south that the activities of Fulani herdmen will be greatly checked this will greatly reduce the pockets for violence in the South Then for the North, form a ragtag unconventional militias that will be heavily funded to fight Boko Haram, they will all be northerners especially from affected states with backing of the government, tell the militias there is no rules of engagement, kill any terrorists, potential terrorists sympathizers, terrorists wannabe even extra judicial killing of anything bearing signs of terrorism is allowed Each northern state government can provide like 25,000 personnels each for the antiterrorism militias, it's fight to finish Of cause, civilian collateral damages will be experienced but all is well that ends well |

Maybe the DSS is not current with the recent happenings in the country. Because the country is already deep in anarchy and those that caused it are in Aso rock supporting Killer herdsmen, sympathize with Boko Haram, other Jihadists, releasing them without trial while paying huge money to Bandits. Meanwhile, the victims are in IDP camps without plans for compensation. They should have good intelligent network to know all these and be responsive. These kind of threats reduces their capacity |
