The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has enjoined the Muslim Ummah to utilise the opportunity of the last ten days of Ramadan to intensify prayers for the nation’s comprehensive peace and security.

This is as President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) expressed sadness over the “heightened” degree of insecurity in the country.

The council in a statement signed by its Deputy Secretary-General NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu, said the Sultan was saddened over the level of insecurity in the country.

“The Sultan is very concerned about the heightened degree of insecurity in the country and the attendant fatalities, tensions, fear and confusion being foisted upon the citizenry.”

The Sultan called on governments at all levels to redouble efforts at protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.

Urging the citizens to discharge their civic responsibilities, the council advised Nigerians to be vigilant and conscious of their neighbourhood and assist law enforcement agents.


“The Council believes and urges all Muslims to continue to support all efforts to sustain a united and indivisible Nigeria.

“The Council prays Almighty Allah to accept our supplications and grant us all the blessing of Ramadan.” the council said.

Dear Sultan God will not come down from heaven to make Nigeria safe.

Sultan should rather tell his jihadist fellows who are terrorising Nigerians.

Rubbish. The so called Sultan is the leader of all Muslims in Nigeria. He can issue proclamations that membership of groups like BH is Haram. That kidnapping is Haram...he will never do that . It is well. We are waiting for them in the South come 2023.

We don't need prayer, we need good leadership!
With all due respect, the Sultan knows exactly what to do in his official ethnic, political and religious capacity to end the insecurities in Nigeria.
Calling for prayers instead of advocating proactive and sustainable actions as well as good leadership is nothing but pure hypocrisy!

Prayer is very good, but prayers without corresponding actions and good leadership even on the part of the sultan and every leader in Nigeria is a complete waste of time!

I love my country but I'm very ashamed of our leaders!

It's all Taqquiya. Aimed at diverting suspicions from himself, being the mastermind of Jihad in Nigeria with Buhari as the state instrument. The same NSCIA president that openly shamelessly supported a self-professed terrorist and Jihadist, Isa Pantami.

He won't waste time to declare Fatwah on missionary Christians or on indigenes that produce songs or movies that expose the bigotry of his faith but he will footdrag to declare fatwah on Boko Haram, kidnappers, bandits or ISIS that tend to "paint" his faith in the bad light of terrorism sympathiser and enabler.

So who doesn't know that the bigot is himself sympathetic to the cause of Boko Haram, ISIS and the Fulani marauders?

People do not need to join him in prayers. Ignore him and do your own prayers. But what Nigerians need more is to fortify 'emselves with weapons no matter how local, then defend 'emselves against the expansionists.

What prayers without actions?

Are bandits ghosts? undecided u pay ransom without going after them meaning ure rewarding for crime so u should expect more of them to spring up. Until u decisively deal with them.

If these bandits were Yoruba or Igbo or any other ethnicity besides Fulani causing this same havoc I’m 100% sure the military will be on it.

People are raising militias and kidnapping and killing people and we call them bandits. I sincerely think it’s gone way beyond that and it may metamorphoses into Smtn worse especially if other regions join this so called “banditry party” and demand ransoms from government.

What even gives bandits the guts to demand ransom from government and government also complies?? Then leaves them to walk freely in peace? undecided Am I missing Smtn or are they not criminals or even terrorists undecided
