“Look after yourselves and everyone the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be like shepherds to God's church. It is the flock he bought with the blood of his own Son.”

Good News Translation:

“So keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock which the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he made his own through the blood of his Son.”

New English Translation:

“Watch out for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son.”

Revised Standard Version:

“Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son.”

The above translations are correct since they correspond with 1John 1:7 where even your KJV ends the verse with “the blood of Jesus Christ his Son” so it was NEVER God’s blood that was shed since he never came to this earth as a man, rather it was his Son’s. Period.

Evidently it's the blood of God's son that was shed not the blood of God!

is this sentence saying that God purchased with his inherent blood or is there an implication that someone else’s blood was used?
