First thing you need to know about Christianity is that Christianity is a faith based only upon a willful response to God's actions. It believes that God alone is the origin of all that is good. Hence, a positive response to God yields good and the reverse is also true.

Secondly, God made humans to behave like him, and that remains his purpose for us. This attaches very serious implications to everything we do, because we are creators by nature; our actions must create something. To enable human response to him as our guide to, God gave us the gift of free will. We can decide the kind of response we give to God and be fully responsible for our decision.

Thirdly, God is sovereign, hence, it adds nor removes nothing from him when we respond to him. However, he cares about us and everything he made. Being like him, he needs not hate us for our responses, he simply expect us to own up to their results, after all, we made them. Most of the time, we see this as God's punishment. In truth, God's anger, curses, punishment and even hell itself are nothing but God simply saying AMEN (so be it) to man's response.
