Enugu-based Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has announced he is shutting down his adoration ministry for one month, LeakersPost

It was gathered by LeakersPost that the announcement was preceded by an order from the Catholic bishop of Enugu Diocese Calistus Onaga for him to embark on a one-month retreat. An alert on Tuesday morning to members of the adoration ministry said Mbaka was proceeding on a month-long private retreat.

“Our Spiritual Director, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka wishes to inform his beloved adorers that he has embarked on a private prayer retreat that will end on 10th June 2021.
“Consequently, no ministry activities shall be held in the ministry ground pending his return.

“He directs that members of the ministry are to observe this period of his retreat as they used to do during the usual January breaks of the ministry, by praying at their homes, being charitable and fasting according to their ability,” the notice read.

The Catholic Church in Enugu witnessed an unusual incident last week when protesters invaded the Holy Ghost Cathedral and the bishop’s residence over Mbaka’s whereabouts.

The priest’s public criticism of the Buhari administration had forced the bishop to call him to seclusion.

After reappearing, Mbaka alleged the diocesan leadership wanted to close down the adoration ministry. He later apologised for his supporters’ actions and agreed to partake in a week-long prayer of reparation declared by the bishop.
