Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has observed the Eid el-Fitr prayer today along with his followers in Bauchi.

This is against the declaration of the Sultan of Sokoto and the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Saad Abubakar.

The Sultan had said that Eid el-Fitr prayer will be observed on Thursday in Nigeria following the non-sighting of the Shawwal moon on Tuesday.





But speaking during the Eid prayer held at Kofar Gimbe in Bauchi, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a leader of the Tijjaniyya movement, said they have received credible report of the sighting of the moon on Tuesday, hence their decision to observe Eid on Wednesday
