In 1999, they voted for PDP and dumped ANPP
In 2003, they voted for ANPP and dumped PDP (With influence of Buhari)
In 2007, they voted for ANPP and dumped PDP (With influence of Buhari)
In 2011, they voted for PDP and dumped ANPP

The wave of celebrations was dynamic, men painted their lips red, wearing cola-nut on their neck, bumper-to-bumper runs, balloons, songs, the whole of Kano was in a mood like never seen before, it is PDP that won.

Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was governor of Kano from 1999 to 2003, he lost second term bid in 2003, the party (PDP) also lost in 2007, given ANPP 8 years of uninterrupted chances to win the hearts of Kano people. So many events have lead to the failure of ANPP this time, including their candidate's being very unpopular among both the elites and the masses. Secondly, most of Shekarau's aides were interested in the bid but were denied their rights to contest which lead to many of them decamping to other parties especially PDP and CPC. Thirdly, Buhari's failure to win the presidency lead to frustration of some CPC members who burnt their voters cards, hence cannot come out to vote this time. Finally, Appeal Court's sudden judgement between the CPC candidates Abacha and Jafaru, where the court ruled out Jafaru Isa, a colonel, once a governor in Kaduna, as the rightful flag bearer of the CPC in Kano. Those are some of the events that lead to PDP winning in Kano.

All said, Kwankwaso have so many supporters in Kano, especially the teeming youths, and some business men, who sees him as a philanthropist in those areas.

Kwankwaso's main campaign theme was education, power, and water, he promised to bring back the feeding of primary school students, build and additional campus for the state's polytechnic, and additional campus for the state's university, he promised to build underpasses, flyovers, and so many other structures within the city of Kano. Kwankwaso will also implement an economic team comprising of 6 nationalities, each from Europe, Asia, North America, Africa, Middle East, and Australia.

After all, Kano is not a dumping ground of political bandits, same person was stoned during his first tenure in 2003, today he is the Champion for All!!!

The People of Kano are Unpredictable!

so my question is Why the jubilation? when it was killing of Non-huasa and burning of churches when PDP won the presidential election.

They are crazy people who need education. It was all because the President is a Christian.

@ ulohomuno

lols. PDP rigged Presidential elections. This one is not rigged (as much) as you have seen from the outsing of Shekarau and ANPP after doing little in 8 years.  cool cool

Well, Kano people voting Kwakwanso in as Governor goes to prove that the violence we saw after the announcement of the Presidential election results was because a Christian southerner won the elections not some revolutionary bullcrap some people have been feeding us with.

The 'great' CPC only won in one state, Nassarawa, a state that declined to vote for Buhari. I think it should be more obvious that the CPC and Buhari never had a chance to win and that many people voted for the individual and not the party.

Buhari could not have won the elections and neither did he deserve it.

@ revomind

CPC is a 10 month old party. It was about the Presidential elections not really the governorship. Didnt really have the foundations on the ground for the Guber.

Who cares if Buhari couldnt have won? Does that justify rigging? And rigging far beyond 'small small'.

Truth is we dont know, however the length PDP went to Rig aka 99.84% GEJ suggests a run off was possible at least.

There may have been some measure of rigging by all the political parties, but by and large, l hold the opinion that this election is far better than what we had in recent years.
I give the praise for helping us to begin to do what is right in this country.

You all need to see Kano yesterday, the whole city was agog with celebration and chanting of "Kwankwasiya - Amana". You will not believe that this was the same city where everyone were running helter skelter and blood was flowing mercilessly just days before. Kano is really unpredictable but I think they voted "Individual" and not "Party". I just hope Engr Rabiu delivers.
Their sentiments was against Jonathan cos he is a Christian and they see themselves too good to be governed by an "harni" - Infidel or unbeliever! Very crazy people these people are o!!

Nadanbata

please get my question right. I am not saying there was no rigging or (voter inducement especially in the SS &SE)  both parties rigged and/or induced voters. I am only asking why violent against non-huasa & christian in Kano?

If you are following the election in the country you will discovered that that demonstration against perceived injustices (as regard election) have also occured in other part of Nigeria even Kogi state- during primaries and even the ongoing main election. these demostration has also witness violence viz-a-viz \; looting, burning of cars even death(s) but were never with ethino-religious coloration like what happen in the North especially kaduna, Kano and bauchi. that is my question? that is my bone of contention that I will alway ask. this question will continue to hurt this Nation .

It may interest you to know that I campaigned  for Buhari, was scolded by peers becuase of this. if i vote for Buhari (and PDP rigged or induced voters to win the election) why burn my Place of Worship? why kill my kinsmen (both Christian & Muslim)?

Who rigged the election in Kano, Kaduna etc? where they non-huasa? so why kill non-huas instead of demonstrating against your brothers that rigged the election infavour of PDP.

What of the innocent NYSC members?  what is there crime against Buhari/CPC.

Re: The Unpredictable People Of Kano by auwal87(m): 9:03pm On Apr 28, 2011
It was like this earlier today when Kwankwaso came out;

PEEEEEEEEDEEEEEEEEEPEEEEEEEEE ~~~~ POWERRRR
POOOOOOOWEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR ~~~~ 'YANCHIIII (meaning Freedom)

KANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ~~~~ SAI KWANKWASO
KANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ~~~~ SAI KWANKWASO

NIGERIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ~~~~ SAI GOODLUCK
NIGERIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ~~~~ SAI GOODLUCK

(at the end)

TWENTY PIPTEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNN (meaning 2015) ~~~~~ SAI KWANKWASOOOOOOOO

Chanting and Dancing and Clapping

My whole point is the 3rd "verse" Kwankwaso will surely run for the presidency in 2015, what the hell are you thinking, Goodluck will sit back, Noooooooo!!!!

Very funny scene indeeed!!!
