All we see on news are calls for secession, sacking of police outposts and killings. How then can elections hold in a heated polity.

It might hold.

The only thing is that Fulani would want to hold onto power. The entire South and large part of Middle belt will reject it and that will be the beginning of the end of the contraption called Nigeria.
