BLACKROSE CHEMICALS LIMITED HOLDS HER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PRESENTATION IN IBENO LGC

...States Readiness To Site Her Methanol And Ammonia Plant Project In The Area.

Earlier today Tuesday 18th May, 2021, BlackRose Chemicals Limited in a presentation briefed stakeholders in Ibeno local government of its readiness to site her plant project and to also do business in Ibeno LGA.

In his words Mr. Salau, the BlackRose Chemicals Limited consultant commended the Chairman for the opportunity to brief Ibeno community on proposed environmental impacts of it's operations. He equally thanked all in attendance for their efforts and cooperation which has resulted in their presence to give attention to the company's brief.

During the presentation, Mr. Salau noted that since the brief was just one of the many more meetings that will be held with stakeholders in the area, it was necessary for the company to engage and interact with the people with the sole aim of making them aware of the company's aims and objectives. He also added that it was necessary that the needs of the people of Ibeno might as well be communicated to the company in order for such needs to be met by the company's presence in the area.

Responding, Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong advised that the host community's name be captured specifically in the company's address. Adding to this, Apostle Samuel Ekah, intimated the company's representative on the need to fully incorporate the youths of the area into the company when it resumes full operations. Also, Barr. Diamond Akpanika coached the consultant on how important it is for the company to set clear cut parameters to fight the negative impact of the company's presence in the area.

While stressing the essence of community's involvement in the company, Mr. Michael Abakam, the Labour Chairman, Ibeno LGA, implored the company to inform and communicate the various skills and qualifications needed to be considered for employment in the company. In the light of this, Mr. Abakam explained that it was necessary to help the host community, prepare her indigenes ahead of time to be meaningfully employed in the company.

Geared towards ensuring that the interest of the people is absolutely protected when the company resumes full operations in Ibeno, Dr. Dorothy Thompson, motioned that it was necessary for the community to have a representative that will at all time speak the interest of the people all through the planning process.

Wrapping up the session, the Executive Chairman of Council, High Chief Williams Mkpah, expressed optimism that the presence of the company in the area will be of great economic importance to the local government area and Akwa Ibom State at large. He further informed the company that a committee made up of intelligent and experienced Ibeno indegenes will be constituted to work hand-in-hand with the company to ensure absolute security of the Ibeno people's interest.

"I look forward to having joint session with you in order to draft the Memorandum of Understanding, (MOU) with your company" Mr. Mkpah highlighted.

In attendance where: the Executive Chairman, Ibeno LGC, High Chief Williams Mkpah, Vice Chairman, Ibeno LGC, Hon. Mrs. Ethel Ifum, Leader Ibeno Legislative Council, Hon. Ekemini Okon, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Mr. Johnson Ukalom, Barr. Diamond Akpanika, Obong Dennis Esenem - village head Mkpanak, representative of the paramount ruler, Obong. Ita Ndem, Hon.Samuel Ekpeyong, Dr. Dorothy Thompson, Apostle Samuel Ekah, Youths representatives and the press.

[/b]Ibeno currently play host to Ibom deep seaport , Jim Ovia refinery, Quantum oil refinery, BUA refinery and Ibom Motor City ..
Making it the most Industrial Local government in West Africa. And not limited to other already exited companies and industries like Total, Mobil etc..[b]
