COMMISSIONER ONYEKACHI NWEBONYI ILLEGALLY DEMOLISHES A BUILDING TO CREATE A PARKING LOT FOR HIS DR FRIEND IN EBONYI STATE.

An assault, the like of which has never been experienced in our records in all humanity, even in authoritarian military autocracy, is now being unleashed on the people of Ebonyi. this is just to reveal with irrefutable evidence, the horrible and repulsive crimes among others buried in oblivion, committed against the very people that voted the government into power, whose interest they pledged to preserve and protect while taking oath of office.

In vile mélange of fanaticism, one of Gov Umahi’s concupiscent errand boys , Onyekachi Nwebonyi is now busy aggravating matters with imbecilic idiocies. Issuing from the noble status and pinnacle of virtuosity of the legal profession, one still cannot juxtapose his callous, weird and contumacious behavior with the reputational profile of an era believed to be laying a valid claim on civilization.
Just recently, the power-drunk commissioner for the newly-created Ministry of Capital City Development (MCCD), Onyekachi Nwebonyi, in blatant endorsement of hostile engagement and impunity, demolished a property belonging to one Mrs Ilochi to create a parking lot for his friend’s hospital, Grasam Specialist Children's Hospital.

It was gathered that Mrs Ilochi, who is a retired civil servant, bought a piece of land located at Amike Aba, Omege, from one Mr Christopher Onu Ezeiro with all her life savings and retirement benefits. The land is in opposite direction to Dr Samuel Agha’s Grasam Hospital, off Omege Avenue, Amike Aba. Trouble started when Mrs Ilochi began to develop her piece of land, as, Dr Agha, of the Paediatrics Department of Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, who is also the the owner of Grasam specialist children's hospital, claimed that the land was an access road, even when there exist a major access road to his hospital.

As the labourers that Mrs ilochi hired to work for her commenced work, Dr Agha reported that Mrs Ilochi was obstructing the access road to his hospital to the Amike Aba Youths and Amike Aba Power of Attorney, who came and told Dr Agha that there was no road there after investigation. They however gave Mrs Ilochi a Youth Clearance Certificate. Dr Agha then reported to Amike Aba Development Union. The elders were gathered, and they told Dr Agha, that no access road exists there after their investigation. They also gave her clearance.

Then, Dr Agha invited the police to intimidate and arrest labourers working for Mrs Ilochi at the building site. The police, after their investigation, discovered that the land was a parcel of its own and did not constitute any obstruction and gave Mrs Ilochi all-clear to continue her work.
Still desperate to dispose this woman of her land which she bought with her life-time earning, Dr Agha ran to Abakaliki Capital Territory Development Board (ACTDB) and Mrs Ilochi was issued with a stop-work order. When she tendered her papers to ACTDB, the chairman of the board, Dr Uche Onwe was fully convinced that her claims were correct. She was then granted permission to continue her work.
Having exhausted all channels of maneuver and manipulation, Dr Agha then approached Mrs Ilochi through a land agent to sell the same plot of land, which he earlier on labeled as access road, to him. Mrs Ilochi struck a bargain with Dr Agha to offer the land for sale at 6 million. After that, Mrs Ilochi stopped work at the building site, waiting to be paid by Dr Agha, but he was never seen or heard from again.
After waiting for about three weeks, Mrs Ilochi continued work on the land, only to be ordered by aides from Igwe Oketa, the traditional ruler of Nkaleke Echara Unuhu Autonomous Community, to stop work. When she approached the traditional ruler to find out reason for the order, she was asked to pay thirty seven thousand naira (N37,000), before her case could be heard. She obliged and paid the same amount and was told that investigation would commence as to whether the plot of land constituted an obstruction or not. After two weeks, the Igwe invited Mrs Ilochi. He told her that Dr Agha is finding her trouble, but that she should sell the land to Dr Agha. The Igwe pressured her to sell the land at 6 million naira to Dr Agha, which Mrs Ilochi strongly objected and insisted on 8 million. She argued that she had sunk much money in the construction work from the time they struck the initial bargain when Dr Agha disappeared. At this juncture, the Igwe persuaded her to put down the cost of all she had spent so that Dr Agha could refund her.
However, on Monday, the 3rd of May, Mrs Ilochi received an anonymous call. The caller alerted her that the commissioner for Capital City Development, Onyekachi Nwebonyi who just resumed office (after converting ACTDB to MCCD) has compromised through inducement by Dr Agha to demolish the structure on her land. Behold, on Friday 7th May, she got another call that Mr Onyekachi Nwebonyi was on her plot of land with some heavily armed policemen demolishing the structure on her plot of land, not even with a notice – no demolition notice, no phone call, no invite was given to Mrs Ilochi by Onyekachi Nwebonyi, for her to substantiate her claims.
In the face of illogical insinuation and incoherent imputation that the said plot of land is an access link to the hospital, why did Dr Agha want to buy the land from Mrs Ilochi? Was Igwe Oketa who is now talking from both sides of his mouth debauched when he invited Mrs Ilochi to inform her that she must sell the land to Dr Agha? Sell an access road to Dr Agha? Did ACTDB make a mistake by issuing Mrs Ilochi the necessary papers that gave her powers to commence development? What about the village attorney and the youths of Amike Aba community that gave Mrs Ilochi clearance? Did all these bodies suffer collective blindness?
Indeed, this is an aberrant move that sharply contrasts Nwebonyi’s professional intellectuality! Certainly, it will be difficult to erase the image of an intimidating ogre from the innocent mind of Mrs Ilochi, who is a front-line victim of this mindless brute. I pray that she finds justice.
