In what appears to be a unanimous non-acceptance, Nigerians express fears that the request and submission of IMEI to the government will amount to privacy invasion.

There was a case in U.S, if I remember correctly, where Apple refused to unlock the Iphone of a dead? Terrorist because it infringes on his right. It was a big issue then between apple and the FBI.
If my phone loss and i am interested in recovering it, I can then willingly submit my IMEI for tracking, not this blanket order that we must all submit.
