How they double the rent and Commission is beyond me.

I went house hunting for a family member, on seeing the preferred apartment, the agent says it 300k for the rent and 100k for the commission.

This is just a room self contain in the slums of Isolo. Not an Estate.
A rough area.
Bad road and bad neighborhood.

Just that the building is fresh.

I contacted the person to come and inspect the house if he'd like it, on the day of inspection, we called the agent but his number wasn't reachable.
We drove to the house anyways and luckily, we met the landlord.

The landlord made it known to us that he didn't give his house to agents to market for him, rather agents have been the ones taking it upon themselves to bring people for inspection. In fact, if we've had any agreement with the agent, we should not bank on that.
He asked if we know how much the rent costs, we both chorused a "No". Yes, we lied.

Guess what, The apartment costs 200k
Agreement bla bla 30, 30k. 60k.

Total package N260k.

The landlord himself is not a saint. Why collect money for Agent/commission yet did not hand over the house to Agents.

Some landlords make agreements with Agents. Inflate the rent and share the loots.
This is robbery.

If there's anyone putting a roof over your head in this Lagos, appreciate the person and do whatever to make him/her happy.

Securing an apartment in this Lagos is not a joke.
