In an avalanche of tributes sent to the media on behalf of the Nigeria Youths Democratic Party NYDP to Nigerian nation on the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and ten others who died in an air crash in Kaduna on Friday.

According to an army statement confirming the death, the ex-COAS was en-route Kaduna from Abuja when the unfortunate incident happened.


In an exclusive interview in Abuja with news correspondents, the national chairman of the Nigeria Youths Democratic Party NYDP Barry Avotu Johnson Ist, gave a response to the incident and said he was sad and sorrowful.

“barry Avotu Johnson Ist is deeply saddened over the air crash that claimed the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other military officers,” at a time when Nigeria was facing a serious matter of how to tackle insurgence which have destoryed the fabrics of our democracy and economic growth for some years now.

Barry Avotu Johnson Ist described the military officers as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in the land.”
Barry Johnson also noted that the crash “is one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a time our armed forces are poised to end the security challenges facing the country.”

The NYDP Chairman, according to the interview, pledged that the departed would not die in vain and he advised the Government to do a good investigation on what the cause of the crush so it can be prevented in the future.

Barry Avotu Johnson Ist addressed the dead officers as dedicated officers who loss their lives in the line of duty’

The NYDP Chairman, said the death of the Army Chief was unfortunate coming at a time that the Nigerian military was finding solutions to the security challenges in the country.

And in the interview Barry Avotu Johnson Ist said having taken over from the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, a couple of months ago, Attahiru has shown a lot of commitment in tackling the security situation in the country.

Barry Avotu Johnson Ist, who said his party was planning to have a meeting with Attahiru in search of solutions to the challenges of youths restiveness in terms o electioneering activities across the Nation, noted that the late Army Chief worked as a core professional officer.

He said the Nigerian military, especially the Nigeria Army, has lost a dedicated and committed senior officer whose services to fatherland will be sorely missed.

‘Highly Pained by the death of the chief of army staff, he called on the government of President Buhari to make sure the next army chief must do the needful in terms of flying the correct plane without the issues of flying nd engines because most of the crushes across the world today re caused by poor weather, poorly managed aircraft and allowing professional flyers to mend the craft.

“Barry Avotu Johnson Ist on behalf of the NIGERIA YOUTHS DEMOCRATIC PARTY NYDP at home and abroad extend his condolences to the Kaduna state government, President Muhammadu Buhari, all branches of the military, especially the Nigerian Army, and the family of General Attahiru, as well as the families of all the officers who have lost their lives in this national tragedy.
