I personally think the military as an institution has reached a watershed moment in its history. A fork in the road of some sorts and with all the challenges thrown at it from all sides, it is time for some deep seated circumspection as to how it sits and fits into society as a whole. It is time for the military to enter into this country and become the military of Nigeria, the defenders of the people. For me it has stood far too aloof from the heart beat of the nation and psychologically exalted itself above the realities of the everyday experiences of what it means to be Nigerian. The military belongs to all of us. The great men and women who serve there are our relations, friends and compatriots. It is time they become a part of us and we become a part of them. The Nigerian military IS TOO DISTANT FROM THE PEOPLE OF NIGERIA. It should not be so. We want to mourn when they mourn as a nation and share the times of joy and victory when they prevail and win. We want to be their cheerleaders and number one supporters through these absolutely difficult times they pass through presently. I sincerely beg the government to open channels of contact and solidarity between the peoples of this country and its armed services. People who lay down their lives for others are unique and prized possessions to any society. They should not be treated shabbily. Let us love them. Revive the 'military days'. Let us have townhalls and exhibitions, bazaars and family fests and sporting exchanges. Let us establish military bonds for financial support to the men and women in uniform, in action, familiies of the departed, those injured and invalid and retired with honour. They deserve it all. |

Soldiers collecting N2000 from lorries along sapele road from Edo state to warri nko? Please I want to know if they will take a break today Monday. On a more serious note these soldiers are causing real hardship on the citizens of Edo state especially after you manage to navigate RCC along sapele road not to talk of the evil road safety and police under the bridge at by pass the the soldiers busy collecting N2000 from lorries causing serious hold up, abi is it the civil defence stopping all tanker drivers also collecting N1000 and 1 liter of fuel abi is it the police Roger of N100 everyday and especially on Wednesdays. If the Obaseeki stone use as palliative no burst your tyres then be rest assured that the 10 inches timber strewn at each check point will damage your tyres. The worst part is that the roads are also bad on its own and the security operatives position their checkpoints on the good paths of the road. Government should do something about these bribes and the bad roads and the unnecessary hold up these security operatives cause. Their presences does not ditter armed robbers from operating on the road in as much as they are every where on the road. |

At a time they're facing a guarilla warfare? No need for this, just give a press release on why the president and vice were absent at the COAS burial. We will understand, after all it's a government run with press release |

The Buhari regime declared today, 24th May, 2021, as work free day for the armed forces to mourn Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the late Nigerian Army chief. In a country bedeviled by massive and unprecedented insecurity this is needless. The armed forces do not need more holidays, what they need is respect from the authorities, quality weapons and better emolument. President Buhari should have attended the funeral in Abuja. A responsible leader should honor his fallen comrades. But is the bloodthirsty killer #Buhari responsible? The illiterate barbarian #TyrantBuhari recently rushed to France for a useless summit but can not attend the funeral of the Nigerian army chief in Abuja at the National Mosque which is just a stone throw from the Aso Rock presidential villa. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, personally led the funeral prayers of General Qassem Sulaimani and all Iranian leaders were present. This is how to inspire a nation. #ElbinawiTweets |
