Most of the people that are supporting scraping of nysc are those that have done it or have no hope of doing it. The stipend have helped and would help graduates in getting capital for startup and if scrapped I dont think the government will willingly give out such amount, Nigerians are wicked this is how they stopped scholarships after gainfully enjoying it.

Here in Yola, we have lots of non indigenes working as business individuals and even in state government, typical examples are: Dr. Joe who is a retired veterinary doctor with the state gov't, sainana resources, etc they all came to Yola through NYSC.

Instead of solving the problem at hand, which is insecurity, they are creating another one.

The fact remains that graduates who find themselves doing nothing after school would be tempted to engage in criminalities just to make ends meets!! The NYSC programme to an extent helps majority save up a little so as to start up a business immediately after school, but with the scraping of the programme, would that opportunity be available?

You don't stop something without putting an alternative in place, if you do, you will only compound the problems.

Now, what's the alternative if the NYSC programme is scraped? Have they thought of given a sum of money to graduates to start up a business and reduce unemployment? If really their intentions is pure and they are really concerned about the graduates, which to them was the yardstick for scraping the programme, then they will put an alternative in place. If not the problem this scraping will cause will be more than what they ever imagined.

It should be scrapped because it is a waste of time and resources.

but nysc is not our problem there are other problems to solve why jumping into nysc i sense they want to divert our attention from what is happening in the country and bring up something completely different from the challenges on ground
