There's no debating it: looking for work is a full-time job in and of itself, and it doesn't get any better when you age.
Do you ever feel like you're running around in circles and getting nowhere? Before you start sending out work applications, it's sometimes a good idea to take a step back and think about your strategy.
If you're caught in a rut, shifting your outlook will increase your morale and help you land the career you've been waiting for.
Our key piece of advice to job seekers is to go about checking boxes and satisfying the requirements that an applicant is looking for.
When it comes to career applications, it's all about persuading a prospective boss to hire you over other candidates. Consider if you can set yourself apart from the crowd.
This is often missed by students who look for jobs by dropping off impersonal CVs and cover letters in high-street department stores and bars. How you approach the application process reflects the kind of employee you are: if you seem to be shirking your responsibilities at this time, you would not please anybody.
Often, don't let your lack of trust be shattered by missed applications. Remember the'survival of the fittest' argument from high school? This is also so of the labor market.
Many who are able to change their attitude and take each rejection letter in stride are more likely to succeed. This is something you should keep reminding yourself of!
Try internet networking.
Join professional networking networks such as LinkedIn. If you're still in school, you may think this is a bit ahead of yourself, but employers would appreciate it if you're already interested in what's going on in the work market before you've even graduated.
Join discussion groups for sectors you're involved in and begin developing your social network to stay up to date on job openings.
Following businesses you support and leaving feedback on their posts is another perfect way to get heard, but keep your comments professional and save your rants for Facebook.
It's still poor etiquette to introduce someone you don't know on LinkedIn, so going on a connection-adding binge won't help you. You'll nail this part if you read our guide to using LinkedIn to find a job.

Consult your friends and family.
Employers also want to appoint someone that their trustworthy colleagues would vouch for, so staff recommendation is one of the most common methods of recruitment.
Take advantage of this by approaching friends and family who serve in fields you're interested in. This will also lead to you learning about openings before the competition, giving you an immediate edge if anyone can recommend you.
Look for opportunities outside of career postings.
Sticking to career postings isn't really the fastest way to get ahead.
Focusing on individual firms rather than job openings will benefit you because you'll already be interested in the industry before you start the application process. Rather than simply submitting an application because there's a work opening, it can come out with what you mean.
Of course, keep an eye on work postings, but if you see a few openings at a fantastic organization and none of the jobs are right for you, give them your CV and cover letter anyway (remember: sell yourself!).
When an organization posts several job openings at the same time, it's an indication that they're growing. This indicates that now is the ideal moment. to introduce yourself and show them what you've got.
