Our attention has been drawn to yet another desperate hatchet job by the restless opposition who evidently are jittery about the rising profile of the Distinguished Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah as the November 6th Governorship polls close in.

We would have ignored these latest attempts just as we did when they came up with similar tissue of lies during the height of the EndSARS protests and immediately after witnessing the massive show of love and affection that the people of the state showered on the Senator in the aftermath of his unprecedented intervention during the protests to save businesses and avert loss of lives. These opposition elements who were shocked to see the Distinguished Senator come out without a single security guard at a time when they were all hiding in the safety of their own homes, to calm down the restive youths, immediately went to town with their agent provocateurs peddling falsehood. The end result then was an audio recording purportedly from the leader of IPOB who they obviously fed their usual cooked up lies. That is if the audio was not even manipulated as we suspected.

Note that the two current attempts ongoing now brings to three so far made on the same subject matter

1: A purported audio recording accusing the Senator of soliciting for and receiving funds on Nnamdi Kanu's behalf made last year after the ENDSARS protests.

2: Hatchet posts spread via WhatsApp and other social media platforms about a purported plot by the Senator to assassinate Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after a meeting between President Buhari and Senator Ubah at the Villa (even when it is on record and easily verifiable that the Senator has not visited Aso Rock since 2015 till date).

3: An audio recording of a conversation by a faceless mischief peddler presently being trended on WhatsApp platforms about a purported move by the Governor of Rivers State to hire assassins to kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and how Senator Ubah took up the contract.

Because the Senator is a firm believer in the maxim that a clear conscience fears no accusation, he kept calm then, refrained from responding to the audio and events has since then vindicated him as not even one person has come out to say that the Senator solicited money from him as anybody's purported representative.

Senator Ubah who started enjoying God's blessings from a very young age through dint of hard work, and who has over the years built a well-established record as a giver, has never solicited for or received funds from anyone under any guise. It is worthy to note at this juncture that even during the Transformation Ambassadors Of Nigeria (TAN) political campaign movements that he single-handedly powered for Ex-President Jonathan then, it was still the same story of giving and that was the reason why he was never found wanting when the President Buhari regime came on board in 2015, even when the authorities thoroughly scrutinised their books.

We are aware that the recently concluded local government tours by the Distinguished Senator and the trending organic responses from the masses in the state shook the opposition to the bone marrow, we are not surprised to see their usual stock in trade - which is peddling lies now on display once again.

These restless opposition elements having watched the Senator engage the huge ecstatic crowds that trooped out to welcome him in all of the 21 Local Governments areas visited as opposed to their own brand of local government visits (which is gathering a few individuals inside makeshift stalls), and being amazed at how he was moving around all the local governments without security even in the face of the insecurity concerns in the State, have set in motion for the umpteenth time yet another ill-thought-out plot. This time around, it is a purported and low brained assassination bid that merely exists in their wildest imaginations.

In their haste to peddle mischief, they forgot that Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah has an already established and renowned record of being an advocate and a Chief promoter of the Igbo welfarist agenda and development who has always led from the front on matters concerning Ndi Igbo both at home and in the diaspora.

The question to ask these small band of mischief peddlers is, who in Nigeria is unaware of the effort that the Distinguished Senator put in during the incarceration of the leader of the IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje then by demanding for his freedom in line with his belief that every Igbo son or daughter and in fact, every Nigerian is entitled to freedom of speech? Authority Newspapers was also publishing a near-weekly reportage of his travails then and drawing attention to his plight.

A Senator Ubah that went all the way to China to successfully negotiate the release of many Igbo sons languishing in jail over there and who our Igbo traders always run to for his intervention whenever issues of dispute arise in the various markets in Lagos state. Instances of which are his interventions in Tradefair and Ladipo markets.

The same Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah that sent two chartered Dana planes to bring back our youth corps members posted in Bauchi during the crisis that broke out there in the aftermath of the 2011 presidential elections. This is the same Senator Ubah whose intervention in Lagos saw to the election, for the first time in history, of Igbo sons in that state.

How this same man that goes by the sobriquet "Ebubechukwu Uzo" and who conscientiously drives a legacy pact with God through his various spiritual works one of which is single-handedly building a Catholic Cathedral to propagate God's work can be alleged to be the one plotting to assassinate a fellow human being is one idiotic narrative that beats the imagination of every right-thinking person.

In their haste to peddle mischief, they also forgot that unlike the desperate politicians of their ilk that see public office as avenues for amassing filthy lucre, the friendly and peace-loving Distinguished Senator who is already established by dint of hard work and who is highly contented, do not view politics as do or die and is only in it, as a result of his covenant with God to touch lives and contribute his own quota in driving the emancipation and general welfare agenda of Ndi Igbo both at home and in the diaspora.

Today, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah holds the unprecedented and enviable record of building/attracting 5 hospital projects to Anambra State in one year through his legislative input and social networking with Friends.

We hereby once again call on our teeming supporters to ignore this latest fabricated falsehood and regard it as the feeble kicks of a dying horse that is poised to face inevitable rejection at the polls come November 6, 2021.

We have, however, submitted the phone numbers used by these paid mischief-makers in disseminating these malicious lies on WhatsApp platforms as well as the Facebook records of their enablers to the appropriate security agencies.
