A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Commissioner for Information in Edo State, Chief Charles Idahosa on Wednesday described the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike’s statement that PDP will suffer if he leaves as very unfortunate.

Speaking with Daily Independent, Idahosa said the PDP is a very big political party that is bigger than Governor Wike or any other group within its fold.

Independence had earlier reported that Governor Wike who described himself as an asset to the PDP said “If I leave PDP tomorrow, the party will suffer. I am an asset to the PDP. If I leave the party today, I will win election in any party I find myself”.

Reacting to the statement, Idahosa said, “I didn’t read it but if Governor Wike said that if he leaves, PDP will suffer, that is very unfortunate. The party is bigger than Governor Wike or any group

“I read about his altercation with former governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state, Wike was calling him a mole and Aliyu said he was the one fighting Secondus, the PDP national chairman.

“I didn’t read where he said if he leaves PDP, the party will suffer. But if indeed he said that, it is very unfortunate”.

“Really, no single person is bigger than the PDP. The PDP is a very big party, bigger than any individual. I am a founding member of the PDP. I joined the party in 1998 and I don’t know where the likes of Wike were at that time but politics is like that”.

“They now see politics as somebody who has the biggest amount of money to throw around and then try to forcibly take control of the party”.


“Recently, I released my book titled ‘The Fall Of The Last Godfather’, which was about the activities of Adams Oshiomhole in the politics of Edo state and Governor Obaseki. I thought what played out in Edo would have been a lesson to potential godfathers that it doesn’t pay; because at the end of the day, you are a loser”.

The PDP really fall the hands of their teaming supporters. It's obvious that it cannot provide a credible or formidable opposition to the ruling APC.

While most of her supporters were banking on it to rebound 2023, her fate keep diminishing everyday as 2023 approaches, which is caused by inherent ego, greed,treachery, betrayal and what aview among it rank.

It is the cumulative frustration of the above factors, unbearable hardship and unknown future that has led to most of the agitations/protest we are witnessing at the moment. The people have turned themselves to be the opposition.

I don't see anyone in this current PDP that can replace wike. Both in politicking and in financial support. I repeat nobody. He's the strongest pillar of pdp
