A friend of mine told me his sordid kidnap experience in Port Harcourt.

He is based in Delta state and into installation of CCTVs. He regularly advertises online as well as classified websites like Jiji to expose his business. One afternoon in April, he got a call from an elderly man that on the cost of installing CCTV in a warehouse in Port Harcourt. The man said he needed over 20 cameras. My friend thinking it was a big deal gave him a good costing for the cameras which the man accepted. But he asked for measurements of the perimeter so he can estimate the wiring and workmanship costs. The old man now said he would need to come down for that. As my friend cited the distance from Asaba to Port harcourt, the man said he will pay for his transportation when he gets there.

My hardworking friend made plans to get to PH the next day taking the first available bus so not to miss the deal. Once he got to PH at around noon, he called the client. The client told him to get to a popular bus stop that one of his staff is waiting for him there. Once he got there, he was called by the contact staff who met him. They took a bike to a bus stop that was getting towards the outskirts. On reaching there, they boarded another bike. At the point of my friend indicating this, I berated him for not stopping the journey. If your client is going to be paying millions, he should have sent down a good car to bring you down, no entering bikes from here to there. Well, the story went on.

It was him and the staff that mounted the bike. He was seated in the middle. The trip took him through a non-tarred road. So while riding along the path, a set of supposed vigilante stopped them by the side of the road. They asked for identification and started accusing them of being behind the killing of a woman last night. While my friend was vouching for his innocence, that is how someone from behind slapped him, then he was subdued with a gun pointing at hi,m then led into the bush. He was blindfolded. Taken on a bike along the bushy path. Then had to walk several distances. When he got to the hideout, he was beaten and slapped. Had to provide his ATM details and unlock his phone. All the 600k in his account was wiped off. The next day, he heard the voice of his supposed client who is an old man, calling him his son. Then the guy laughed and changed to his real voice. They called like 5 of his family members threatening them that he would be killed if they dont send 5 million naira. There were 3 others who were kidnapped, 2 were from Lagos. In 3 days, his family members raised an additional 700k and that is how he was released. While there, he was fed with just yam and red oil and his eyes were blindfolded through out the stay. They dropped him and one of the victims at a village early in the morning with 10k. He did not even bother reporting to the police station. He used the money, bought some secondhand clothes and took a bus back to Asaba. He said while in bondage, a northern man known as Alhaji came to price two of the victims for bodyparts.

A crazy experience for him but he did not let it affect his mental health. Happy he came back intact. Many unfortunate ones are not here to tell the story. Please if you know anybody travelling to PH or Bayelsa for a job or contract, let the person terminate that trip now. Please be very alert. Not all the missing people stories get to social media. Rivers State is getting notorious for this madness. I will share similar stories that made news by this evil syndicate. May God be with us all.

Na wa o, this kidnapping for ransom and rituals issue is getting too rampant, nobody is safe anymore. Sadly some people's line of business will require them to go on site or travel to different locations for work, how do they prevent getting robbed or kidnapped? Shut down their businesses? What exactly is the police doing about this? Or could this the reason why police stations are being destroyed? You people that are happy with the destruction of police stations and release of dangerous criminals into the society, hope you're happy with the way things are turning out?

Modus Operandi of these animals is sending helpless images of their victims via whatsapp to family members to demand ransom.
No be today. It has been on for a long while. More publications on these. Lalasticlala and Mynd44, information like these can save lives.
