Sowore, founder of the government-critical Sahara Reporters website has shown great bravery in his confrontational stance against the Nigerian government, but it was only a matter of time before that bravery would cross the line into reckless conduct capable of placing his life in danger.

Without hearing any further details about this incident I will make bold to speculate that Mr. Sowore DARED and armed policewoman to shoot him, forgetting that the destructive and lethal power of a projectile is NEVER mitigated by the gender of the person who pulled the trigger that launched the bullet on its assigned trajectory towards flesh and bone.

Perhaps now, after recovering from surgery to remove that bullet, Mr. Sowore will gain a new understanding of ballistics, and learn to stay cool and respectful in the presence of armed people, regardless of whether or not he is in the right. Wole Soyinka, an avid hunter who is all too familiar with the catastrophic effects of gunfire, once expressed the opinion that "Only a fool, argues with a person holding a gun."
