The house of Rep. Proposed to change Nigeria to UAR (United African Republic or United Alkebulan Republic) on 2 June, 2021.
Before we go in to that, let understand how the name Nigeria came on board.

Nigeria was named on January 8, 1897, by British journalist Flora Shaw, who later married Lord Lugard, a British colonial administrator who amalgamated the southern and northern states. Nigeria was derived from the word “Niger River”.

The name was given to her(Nigeria) to unite and bring together the major ethnic groups (Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa) as one country and one family.
