Buhari presidency accuses the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for using Twitter in Nigeria to spread “fake news”.

The Presidency reaction came in after the opposition party, known as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) asked President Buhari to remove the ban place on the micro blogging platform Twitter.

The opposition party sent a message to the president in a statement, advising the government to review the ban for the interest of the nation. They had earlier describe the ban as an “early warning signs of descent into dictatorship” stating that “the mere ego of Mr President is not enough for such a drastic action that deprives millions of Nigerians of such an affordable means of expression and communication.”

The Presidential Aide, known as Garba Shehu has however reacted to the PDP statement, claiming that PDP grieves over the ban because it “curtails their ability to use the platform to spread fake news and invented stories to the detriment of community and good-neighborliness between the peoples of Nigeria”.
