Worried by the present security situation in Nigeria, the Joint National Association of Persons With Disability, JONAPWD Southeast has as a matter of urgency, called for National peace dialogue.

The group passionately appealed to the President Vision Africa International, Bishop Dr. Sunday Onuoha to use his influence as the Global Peace Award winner and Co-chair Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace to amplify the voice of the disabled and influence the peace dialogue.

The disabled group who made their plight known on Saturday through their Southeast Coordinator, Hon. Wisdom Okechukwu Kalu, during a visit/ peace rally at the premises of Vision Africa Radio station, Umuahia Abia State, said they are the worse hit and can’t be suffering hunger and insecurity at the same time.

His words, “We need peace in Nigeria. Killings, banditry and insecurity is on the increase and we are the worse hit in the time of crisis. We are not able bodied and can’t help ourselves. We are trapped in-between life and death. We can’t be suffering disability and at the same time suffer insecurity and economic hardship”.

The group which saw representatives from the Southeast states express their feelings respectively, appealed to Bishop Dr. Onuoha to use his influence and call for a national prayer, as they put it, “God can interven and heal our land through the prayers of the righteous”.

On the reason, they opted to visit the President of Vision Africa International, the group said, they need him to use his influence to call for peace and dialogue among the actors in the issues leading to violence and general insecurity in the country as persons with disability is the most vulnerable in this trial time.

According to the speakers which included a representative from Ebonyi state, Mr. John Lawrence; Enugu State, Onyema Okechukwu; Mr. Levi God’stime from Anambra State; Mr. Clinton Amechi, Imo state; Elder Eze Urasi of Abia State; and Princess Ngozi Nwaguru, JONAPWD Abia State Woman leader further appealed to Bishop Dr. Onuoha to use his respectable personality to influence individuals and Government to come to the aid of persons with disability.

They decried that many of them are facing untold hardship in the country at the moment as a result of the economic hardship and rising inflation.

Addressing the JONAPWD community, Bishop Dr. Sunday Onuoha, President Vision Africa International lauded them for their concerns about the ugly developments in the country, where lives are not considered sacred anymore.

Bishop Onuoha who said, “We do not support burning down of public places. We do not support criminality and we frown at the destruction of our common wealth by the aggrieved”, also in a strong term criticized and condemned the senseless killing of vibrant and innocent Nigerians by the security agencies who hid under the guise of insecurity in the country.

He said it is time for all to come to the table, “accept our mistakes, resolve our differences amicably without shedding the blood of the innocent Nigerians. Nobody should feel too big or small to say I’m sorry because we’re one family under God”.

A special prayer session was observed for peaceful resolution of all issues of disagreement in the country and for the prosperity of Nigeria and its citizens.

At the moment, most Nigerians are disabled one way or the other.
May God deliver us all from the chains of the EVIL OGA at the Top

I never imagined what it means to be disabled until my friend who did her master's degree programme in the UK proferred solutions to the endless traffic chaos in Lagos.

The lady's solution integrated how to the Lagos State government can design a road transport and work schedules that cover physically challenged people. After going through the thesis, I couldn't stop thinking.

Indeed, life is hard in Nigeria, but life is harder for physically challenged Nigerians
