Twitter Ban : LAVERN Spencer Response To Twitter On Nigeria Banning Twitter by mrkels(m): 4:15pm On Jun 05, 2021 |
Lavern Spencer , A republican candidate who is currently running for Congress in South Florida to rid her district of the disastrous Democrat politics that have kept it down for 20+ years has expressed concerns over twitters plea to keep it alive in Nigeria . In the early hours of today , Twitter responded to their ban by tweeting from their handle - “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society. We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #KeepitOn .” The republican candidate gave them a dose of their own medicine by replying - “I am deeply concerned by the suspending of President Donald Trump on Twitter. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society, even if you disagree with their politics.” Another Twitter user @ankit_86 who is a truth seeker replied ‘’Suspending President Trump is fair but suspending Twitter is not ? So Twitter is symbolically more powerful than the President ? Twitter is “Anarchy”, not Freedom of speech!’’ Also earlier today , Bruno Macaes also sent a tweet in support of the country’s decision to ban the bird app from its space - ‘‘This seems like a reasonable decision. No sovereign country should be inclined to place Twitter above the head of state or head of government‘’ He then went ahead to ask the most important question that any reasonable man would seem to understand “It was perhaps tolerable for a US internet platform to determine what can or cannot be said by the US president, but how did anyone ever think the model could apply globally?“ People around the globe , except Nigerians ofcourse are in full support of the country’s decision to ban Twitter out of the country’s ecosystem . Their reasons - Twitter which is an American country has got no right to interfere in the runnings of other countries and even though we do not like the way the president is currently running things , we tend to somewhat agree with their reasoning . It would also surprise you to know that since the president sent that stern warning to those causing mayhem in the east , there hasn’t been any recorded case of unknown gunmen related activities in over 48 hours . This only proves that they have paid heed to the warning and Twitter CEO Jack does not want that . https://twitter.com/policy/status/1401151115022979076?s=21 https://twitter.com/lavern_spicer/status/1401158219003744259?s=21 https://twitter.com/wlebaron89/status/1401155789776068612?s=21

President Trump did not band twitter, all he did was to influence his supporters. It paid off because twitter lost a whole lot of people in the USA. Gab, Discord, Parler and a host of others have gained massive followership. The same goes for CNN. CNN in the USA today has a very low rating. Infact they had to make major changes to stay afloat. Up till The likes of Newsmax has gained massive followership. Banning them will backfire because they are of massive use to your citizens. To cripple twitter, you need to make the people you govern believe in you. Leadership is Influence. You must be able to influence the people. The World is a global village . There are things you can't just do anyhow. It will backfire. 2 Likes |

What was so abnormal in the tweets made by Buhari to warrant twitter deleting them. The messages were simple and clearly directed to all those causing security problems in the country including bandits, kidnappers, assassins, terrorist Igbos and Boko Haram but not to a particular sect or group as twitter deliberately chose to understand them. In fact, it's right to say that twitter was responsible for the negative perception circulating now about the tweets by some section as being directed against them. The opposition politicians and those who have chosen and swore to wail throughout Buhari's tenure took advantage to popularize twitter mischievous intention. It's these same mischievous opposition politicians and the normal wailing wailers pained that are wailing over the well deserved ban hammered on twitter by FG. 7 Likes |

IfGodbeforus:You are right but it's a fact that everything has perspectives. While 5+2=7, you can agree with me that 4+3 can give same results. Life Problem solving can have multi facet approaches. Which a method can be seen easy and results oriented, applying it at some other place could be difficult and fruitless. Those were the ways Trump felt he could deal with twitter. If his own ways produced positive results it doesn't mean the method can yield same for Buhari government in Nigeria. The environmental settings and other factors which come to play are not same. Buhari has used ban, his own way. He is not the first to apply this other method to send signal of displeasure to the online media. Some others are passing strained laws to deal with excesses of these online platforms dabbling into their affairs and causing problems. Of recent, Britain suspended twitter and Canada has passed several laws targeting misuses of liberty of free expression in the country. their country let wait to see the results. 1 Like |

gawu1:Very wrong move. The only success Pmb has from this move is that he has Suceeded in instigating, fighting and hurting the Nigerian people and stripping himself naked and displaying his tyranny character on a worldwide scale. This is democracy. There is no moral or legal justification to do this. |

Apart from emotional Nigerians who are blinded by hatred for Buhari, reasonable folks all over the world are deeply concerned about the the power Twitter and indeed Big techs are wielding over political messaging to the extent of censoring speeches of elected presidents. Even though I don’t support the outright ban, I’m convinced political leaders all over the world will soon start whittling down the influence of Twitter. It just has to be done as the current trend is too dangerous for world peace. 2 Likes |
