You can also use component to HDMI converters. Then, you should plug the component into the HDMI connector on the back of the computer monitor and the converter into the HDMI port on your TV.

If you have an older version of televisions or computers, you should not use high definition tvs with their original HDMI connections. This is because the signals from these devices are not compatible with the latest standards. The only option you have is to use HDMI to VGA adapters. However, the adapters will only allow you to view files on older televisions and will not work with the newer versions.
