It used to be a good business as far back as 2015, I did my youth service at Ebuwanna Edda in afikpo south in 2015, and a POS guy at Owutu Edda back then was the only person servicing the whole villages in afikpo south local government. Today it's in every nook and cranny of your environment thereby limiting your profits, not mentioning running into debts as a result of fraudsters constantly patronizing you. I see the business fizzling out, I see large crowds lining up in banks for deposits and withdrawals like old times.

This I have seen.
wao! That's my place. I think the pos guy in owutu is my cousin. His name is jona or eseni enya ota. The guy is still making money. In fact he is now owning a mini bank

As the owner, sales rep or just helping out.
Share the good, the bad, ugly side of working as a pos agent.

The good
Making great friends and acquaintances. connecting to a greater scale if you know your onions.

I've heard of people who met their partners while working as a pos agent.

the bad
Debts and more debt
You'll see one old man/woman even young peeps will just come and be doing oju anu to please borrow them the smallest amount that they'll pay back, after giving them, they'll stop patronising you and will even stop passing the route of your shop lol grin

the ugly
This one happened to me recently but I serve a living God.
The man came with a jeep highly dressed with an expensive bling, he said he wanted 50k I charged him 1k he said no prob but he's doing transfer.

Inside me I was happy cos that means more commission, oga finished doing the transfer said I should check. While he wait inside his ac motor cos that day was hot af, after 5min he came and asked if I had seen the money I said no, he said maybe its network that he'll wait.

Another 10mins money never drop my scam rader began blinking po po po po.
Oga said I should give him 20k to settle someone while he wait till the money drops, I said mba.

When he saw that I wasn't fazed neither was I moved with his appearance, he suggested to send the money again but if the first 50k entered I should send it back to him and I should manage 5k for being an omo daada, oga did the second transfer showed me his bank app, our company's name and truly it showed successful even the first transfer details that they've not refunded him, I even saw his account balance wey be like recharge card pin grin sibe sibe this madam wasn't fazed.

Oga came back asked me how far, I said none of the two transfer dropped that means no money, he just hissed and drove off. till now I no see any 50k.

Pos work no easy honestly, the bad outweigh the good it's just God that's protecting most of us.

Please share your experience let's learn from each other.

I just experienced what you just said here not long ago ... 3 guys drove and parked beside my business banner , one guy approached me saying he want to withdraw 35k told him the fee he priced it down a bit fine no wahala oya bring your card , i input it the machine was showing fallback or something , simply put the card was not reading , reset the machine the same tin, in-between he saying all kind of shits like the card started the nonsense last week bla bla bla , was gisting me how they want to go bail a friend who left with his car without driver's license he said the car was fixed so he had to take out things inside the car including his license that police arrested and ask for 25k hence the withdraw... By and large he asked if I accept transfer I said yes but will have to confirm the alert before anything . Gave him my FIRST bank number he did and showed me my name with the amount.... Show me transfer successful and all that ... He was trying to hurry me kinda of that police might lock his friend up if they don't do quick that today is Saturday bla blah by then I have already counted and held it. Told him I do receive alert that notin yet , by then the one that drove them have started alerting him to do quick by horning n later came out and ask him what's happening he explains briefly why asking me if I am here (see question o like where I want go before) I told him I am here . He said they will come back for the money when I get alert ... Inside me I just smiled saying in me say Una don see MUMU ABI ? Guys if you are a pos/atm services vendor pls be careful . If you don't know the customer reach house don't I repeat don't give out cash without confirming the credit alert ... Infact sef confirm tru fone and tru card on the pos machine. God bless our hustles amen

I have experienced this many times and my standard is my standard.
They've even name me rigid man but I prefer to be rigid than go back to the village ..lol.

Up till now, one that transferred #80,000 and showed me transfer successful but didn't wait to collect cash because I am RIGID never show since last month...me self still dey wait for the money inside my mobile app..

Like someone said, God will bless our hustle but let's shine our eyes.

Hmmm, so much story learn for, I have been in the business for 6month now and I have my ugly experiences like mistakenly transferring 20k instead of 2k to a customers account. Giving out 60k without knowing the transaction wasnt successful , wised us as time passes by and was able to detect scammers who almost duped me of 20k. While the good part is regardless of all this hurdles . My profit margin is always smiling. In all I am grateful to God.
My question to the house is , I am trying bro open a new branch, I need advice on how to monitor sales rep to prevent theft and running down my business. Your advice are appreciated in advance. Thanks

I don't know of other platform but OPAY has employee portal where you can regulate staff access, give them a PIN as well as a threshold of transaction.
