They are really messing with the guy, why don't he just pay the money back and let the sleeping tiger sleep. The intercontinental bank is Kaput anyways. They need to shut that bank and force Akingbola to pay all the money he and his family owes.

LAGOS, Nigeria - Three former Nigerian bank CEOs will face new charges of stealing money from depositors after the West African nation's central bank fired them almost two years ago over mismanagement allegations, an official said Wednesday.

Nigeria's antigraft agency arrested Okey Nwosu (Igbo) of Finbank PLC, Erastus Akingbola (Yoruba) of Intercontinental Bank PLC and Sebastian Adigwe (Igbo)of Afribank Nigeria PLC on Tuesday,
[/size]said Femi Babafemi, a spokesman for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The former bank chiefs will be formally charged next week in a Lagos state court, Babafemi said.

Babafemi said the new charges stemmed from the money laundering and records manipulation charges the bankers already faced.

"If they are being prosecuted for money laundering, where did get the money (they are accused of laundering) from?" he said.

The banks declined to comment, saying none of those charged now work for the companies and the lawyers of the accused could not immediately be reached for comment.

The three arrested bank chiefs were among five fired by central bank governor Lamido Sanusi in August 2009 before he injected $2.55 billion into five troubled banks. Sanusi had been nominated new central bank chief merely two months earlier and faced a spiraling financial crisis that threatened the oil-rich nation's banking system.

Babafemi said eight former upper-management bank executives also were arrested in connection with the graft case. Two others, including the wife of a former Bank PHB PLC chief Francis Atuche, would also face charges, he said. The antigraft body accuses Elizabeth Atuche of helping her husband siphon money through her own company.

Atuche's Bank PHB was among a second wave of banks that failed a central bank audit in October 2009. When it was discovered that funds had also been mismanaged in Bank PHB, Spring Bank PLC, Equitorial Trust Bank LLC and Wema Bank PLC, Sanusi added about $1.3 billion to the initial $2.55 billion bailout.

The financial crisis affected nine of Nigeria's 24 banks and analysts welcomed the central bank's move as the sector desperately needed increased transparency.

A top exporter of crude oil to the U.S., Nigeria is also considered West Africa's banking epicenter with some of its banks having opened branches outside the country.
