I grew up in Lagos state and remember vividly that herders flock their animals around school premises most times on Fridays. We saw nothing wrong with it and we just looked away and were not bothered. How come this is now a big deal?

Back then in Igbinedion University (Edo State), you see herders doing their thing for years without any issue. I honestly feel there is a political undertone to all these issues. We should all learn to accommodate ourselves. We are all Nigerians.

These people are unserious. A single fulani toddler has rendered teachers and all others helpless. What stops them from going to the "smallboy" herder and order to lead his cows out of the school grounds? Cowardice is in these people's dna, from ojukwu to Kanu, the duo who perfected the shame of fleeing instead of leading from the front. Since they will always flee, no one should come and spew rubbish here if fulani take over the entire SE as ndigbo flee enmass on sighting fulani herders.

This is ordinary grazing that Fulanis has always done. Now cos of all that is going on, ordinary cows feeding on a school with overgrown weeds all over, now in the reporting, cows are chasing people, in the comments, it’s hate, finger pointing, anger fight, kill, Buhari, North etc. A teacher, anyone can just shout and tell them to take their cattle away and that will settle it, or it can be reported and the Fulani can be fined if farmland was destroyed but now it’s a call for aggression on the Fulani and ofcourse there will be reprisals and on and on and on.


But you know that open grazing is banned in the entire south, so the Fulani's know what they are in to and they are ready to confront anybody that challenges their violation of the ban.

The problem started when criminal elements infiltrated the ranks of the herders. The problem is compounded by the fact that many herders became heatless, and brazenly grazed on farmlands with reckless abandon. Times have changed. Climate change, population explosion and poverty rate makes it difficult for farmers to tolerate such encroachment.
Besides, the movement of cattle across populated areas has become both dangerous and oppressive as a result of urbanisation.
