But, reacting to the bill, Mrs Ekwe said, ” NYSC is a strong pillar that unites the entire nation. You can see so many corps members here, they come from diverse culture and ethnic groups, but, once they come for service they do not care about where anybody comes from, they are always united in everything they do.

“They do not care about the ethnicity, religion and culture, they are all one. So, the unity of Nigeria must continue, in NYSC we promote unity and say no to division. It is a rally point of young people in Nigeria.”

First, NYSC does nothing for unity once you leave camp! Many commenting anti-unity here on Nairaland are graduates and ex-NYSC so you can see for yourself it unites you not!

If NYSC is scrapped, employers would lose the cheap labour that they just role over every year instead of retaining and training the staff they already got. Employers would be forced to pay a higher wage too instead of the cheap allowee they currently pay! The benefit however would be that as their staff grow through training and the motivational effect of a higher wage, their companies too will grow as well and they'd likely make more profit and create even more jobs and pay even higher wages.

NYSC is modern slavery and must be scrapped!
