Manufacturing an electric kettle in Nigeria is very, very possible. We have all it takes, but what we lack is the will.

70 - 80 percent of most plastic electric kettle parts are made of plastic, this plastic (Jug) can be easily manufactured in Nigeria by any plastic fabrication company. We have many plastic fabrication companies in Nigeria. The manufacturing companies will create new moulds from all these parts.

The next part is the heating element. I am currently not aware of any company manufacturing the main heating element which is the Nichrome wire in Nigeria. The Nichrome wire (Heating element) can be imported andthe rest can be assembled in Nigeria.

The next part is the Bi-metalic disc (Thermostat), this little magician is responsible for switching off the electric kettle when it gets to very hot boiling temperatures. This part will be imported from abroad at this moment. Its very cheap, one is even less than 50 Naira.

The other parts like the switch, plug and wires can be easily sourced in Nigeria.

We dont need to even own a factory that can manufacture to start manufacturing. Most of the big names in the manufacturing industry do the same.

The metallic electric kettles can also be manufactured in Nigeria, same applies to hot plates.

Majority of Nigerians have not used electric kettles before so the market is still semi untaped.

We can beat the Chinese price. Although we are not competing with them.

By the time Chinese goods are imported into Nigeria their retail price are very high.

So that will create a huge price diff between home made and foreign made.
