Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are spread via sexual contact or exposure to bodily fluids. Some examples of STD’s like gonorrhea, chlamydia can be treated with simple antibiotics while STDs like HIV or hepatitis C are more chronic in nature.

STD symptoms are usually vaginal or penile discharge, abdominal or pelvic pain, redness, fevers, or chills. There are tests to screen for STDs which involve either giving blood or urine or doing a vaginal or penile swab. We recommend young adults get screened for all STDs at least once before a new relationship or marriage. We will be happy to speak to you in more detail on this topic.
