If Tinubu can't install his man, he will not be able to get the party nomination. The interesting analysis will be when and if he is refused, what will happen to the party.

APC, in large part was formed to bring this man to power, now that the door is closing on that mission, the question is what becomes of the party? PDP may be smart to leverage on those cracks, and if they play their right, they can head back to Aso Rock. PDP may best be suited to field a popular Northerner to ensure that the North's votes go to PDP.

APC is currently split between the Fulani faction represented by the Northern governors who in large part control the party, Tinubu is still very much in control of the ACN faction.

However he has very little influence at the center since Abba Kyari distanced Tinubu from the center by refusing all his ministerial suggestions, and installing only those from the SW who had very little loyalty the Jagaban.

However, since the demise of Abba Kyari, the Northern governors, particularly El Rufai began playing a larger role in the Northern faction of APC. To them, Tinubu is not someone they trust as their statements in the past reflect. Moreover, Buhari made it clear that the North controls APC when he said "no one man can sit in Lagos and dictate to the party what happens..."

Currently, the North wants to perpetuate control over the center even if we rotate power. At present, the next president will be someone who will be amenable to Northern interests.

In the North we don't vote by party, but by interests. Tinubu will most likely not get the ticket, at best, he can influence a proxy who may be eligible, but for him the writing on the wall already.
