Prominent businessman and social entrepreneur, Akan Udofia is set to lead a strong team of Akwa Ibom professionals to the command performance of Awo, a new Play from The Duke of Shomolu.

In a brief chat on Thursday afternoon with the press, Mr. Udofia mentioned the reason for his continued support for the art and entertainment industry, emphasizing that it is as a result of his strong belief that it represents a powerful vehicle for social mobilisation and youth engagement.

The play "Awo" which is written and directed by Makinde Adeniran, Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of National Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners; will look very critically at the leadership qualities of one of the most colourful leaders Africa has ever produced.

The very strong values that produced the iconic figure would be showcased in a bid to imbibe such attributes into the subconscious of the next generation leaders as we continually engage ourselves in nation-building which is of course, a joint task.

"Awo" is part of a two-play offering that will see over 6000 people physically watch both Awo and Aremu at the historic Glover Hall in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Glover Hall which was built in 1887 will host the biggest production in its history with over 200 casts and crew and an expected digital live streaming in excess of one million people globally.

Already huge Nigerian Corporates like FBN Ltd and Wema Bank are leading over 20 Nigerian businesses in support of this iconic showing.

Lagos State Government has thrown in its huge support with its other parastatals like the LIRS and LASAA, pulling in resources too.

Akan Udofia, whose continued interest in the Arts is drawn from the sector’s huge potentials for wealth creation, youth engagement and social cohesion, supported very massively Ibiom’s “the Duke's last play” in Uyo and has confirmed that he would be part of the enigmatic Ikot Abasi Women's Riot that will be coming up in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, this December.

The BBC will be leading both local and international media in covering both Awo and Aremu.

Aremu and Awo will be showing respectively 22nd and 29th of August, and 5th and 12th of September 2021. They are both produced by Joseph Edgar, an Investment Banker and Columnist.

Tickets would be exclusively distributed.

Get ready!!!
