And the children of Israel arose, and went up to the house of God, and asked counsel of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first

Although life is full of ups and downs, a child of God is not supposed to experience the downward trends of it.

Can you imagine someone in heaven suffering or experiencing one problem or the other

You can’t have God and live a life full of regrets. The 24 elders in heaven cannot afford to come to the earth for a second. Even Angels in heaven are always in a hurry to go back to heaven when they come to the earth.

When Lucifer sinner against God, it took a great effort to send him out of Heaven. Angel Michael fought vehemently with him before he was sent out from heaven with the fallen angels.

You can’t be in the presence of God and still be battling with life problems.

Hope you remember the children of Israel in the wilderness where there was no food, no stove, no gas, no water. God fed them directly from Heaven.

Even the red sea was not a problem for them because God was with Them.

Job who feared him was the richest in the east.

In addition, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob never knew poverty. They even prospered in a land full of problems.

The question is why so many Children of God experiencing problems of all sorts?

The main reason is that children of God usually plan before seeking advice from God. Instead of seeking God’s advice before planning.

Ask anyone about their plans for the new year, he or she will tell you about his or her plans. Then, ask how they came about the plan. They will tell you they came up with the plan as a result of the things that happened in the previous year, or perhaps they brainstormed them. I doubt if anyone will tell you God revealed it to him or her.

Everyone is fond of planning before seeking God’s advice. Most children of God will plan and pray on it. God detests the act so much.

You need to see the number of things, plans, ideas, prayer points people wrote and brought to church so that they could pray on them. God hates being second-handed. He is the first and will forever retain that position.

You have to seek him first; every other thing can, and will, be second.



What Happened When The Children Of Israel Planned Before They Sought God’s Advice?


In the Bible passage of this article, the children of Israel suffered a big loss because they sought God’s advice after they’ve planned for war. Surprisingly, God gave them a wrong advice. That is exactly what is doing to his children who seek his advice after planning their lives.

Although he loves them, he will always teach them a lesson by giving them a wrong advice, which leads to problems, when they plan before seeking his advice.

The children of Israel planned to fight against their brother, the tribe of Benjamin because they killed the concubine of a levite.



After the concubine had given up the ghost (she died), her husband took a knife, cut her in 12 pieces and sent the dead body to the 12 tribes of Israel in order to show what the Benjamites did to his concubine. That was why about 400,000 warriors in the land of Israel stood up to fight against their brother who is from the tribe of Benjamin.

Then Benjamites were about 26, 000 with 700 professionally trained left-handers who could kill with stones from a far distance.

It was a battle of 400,000 warriors of Israel against 26, 000 warriors of Benjamin.

The children of Israel had a good reason they wanted to fight their Benjamite brothers, but they made a huge mistake, which caused a lot of problems for them. They had planned how they would fight the Benjamites before they sought God’s advice on who to lead the battle.

To punish and correct them, God advised them to send the tribe of Judah. They did. Unexpectedly, the little Benjamites killed 26,000 of the children of Israel out of their 400,000 warriors. Then they cried to God and sought his advice again. Likewise, he punished them by telling them to go ahead.

For the second time and the second day, the little Benjamites killed 18,000 out of the 364,000 warriors left. It was at that juncture; they knew God was creating problems for them by himself.

After they realized their mistake — never to plan before seeking God’s advice, they repented and fasted till evening.

Read below from the word of God what happened after the repentance, correction, fasting and did the right thing.

"So that all which fell that day of Benjamin were twenty and five thousand men that drew the sword; all these were men of valour."

Judges 20:46 KJV


To reiterate, 25,000 out of the 26,000 Benjamites were killed, and the battle came to an end.

Lastly, stop creating problems for yourself as a Christian by seeking God’s advice after making your plans. Rather, seek God’s advice before making plans.

I am afraid that of greater and even bigger issue here is the fact that you preach old Covenant Standards and ideas which are meant for living in the land of Canaan, a kingdom in this world, to those called to instead follow the New Covenant Law of the Kingdom of God , a kingdom not of this world.

I suggest you instead busy yourself learning the Truth of God, Jesus Christ, so you can instead focus on preaching that which He called you to, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, rather than teaching doctrines and traditions of men, which amount to lies where the Kingdom of God is concerned.

So after seeking Gods advice, how long is one suppose to wait before executing the plan. Or are we to just tell God first then go ahead and carry it out?
